Napa Valley Bitters - first time in St. Louis

We are proud to introduce to Missouri - Napa Valley Bitters....

The Napa Valley Bitters Story
Who do you think you are Mr.?
Napa Valley Bitters Co. was founded by Ian Winget with community and conscious capitalism as it's foundation.   Ian Winget revels in the vast array of flavors discovered whilst traveling and living in over 35 countries. Combined with his professional knowledge of wine, spirits, cuisine he has embarked on a Bitters journey which has lead him to create some exquisite and unique cocktail bitters flavors - including Tamarind Lime Chili Bitters (Nickname Senor Tamarindo), Meyer Lemon Sage Bitters, Fuego Del Corazón Bitters and Vintage Barrel Aged Black Walnut Bitters.

First time in Missouri....

Napa Valley Bitters Fuego Del Corazón Bitters...$19.99
A sensationally different bitters that will leave your heart, mind and soul craving more. This is a very limited production bitters inspired by my trips to Ajijic, Mexico where dried chilies rule the world.
Spicy as hell and burns with the passion of 1000 hearts in love. Yet, with a subtle pepper and agave sweetness, it is balanced, complex and not-of-this-world. As the intense smoky heat fades, the brave are then left with the long and lingering dusty spice notes (of 25+ all natural herbs and spices) and singularly unique botanical bitterness. The subtle sweetness from the agave balances through out.
Don't wuss out. Try it. You'll love it.

Napa Valley Bitters Coffee Pecan...$19.99 / 4oz
Inspired by our love of coffee and pecan pie! Born from many nostalgic memories of the family sitting around the Thanksgiving dinner table after feasting enjoying a beautiful espresso and picking at the slice of pecan pie that you thought you could still eat...The base spirit is a 4 year aged bourbon that was finished for 12 months in a Napa Valley Port Works cask. This spirit not only adds a subtle oakiness but also an even more subtle raisiny note that comes through when paired with sweet vermouth and amaros.   The coffee blend was created and roasted by Charlie, owner and coffee roaster, at Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company who worked extensively with Napa Valley Bitters to ensure a perfect blend and fresh roasting.  In addition, there are 30ish other herbs, botanicals and spices that make this a brilliant and versatile addition to any bar - both professional and amateur alike.
Recipe
The Daiquiri Revisited
2 oz good aged rum
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz simple syrup
3 dashes NVB Coffee-Pecan Bitters
Shake all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled coupe.

Napa Valley Bitters Meyer Lemon Sage....$19.99 / 4oz
This flavor is inspired by the Meyer Lemon harvests in Napa. The Meyer Lemon pairs superbly with the sage herb that is traditionally a 'savory' herb. Delightful in Gin, Vodka, light Rum and Tequila.

Napa Valley Bitters Strawberry Rhubarb....$19.99 / 4oz
We drew from our love of French rhubarb and strawberry tarts consumed with an ice cold bottle of rose de Provence - sour, sweet and perfect for enjoying warm weather.  Full of fresh organic rhubarb and strawberries and cut and dehydrated slightly before we use them. In addition, there is heaps of fresh organic and dried grapefruit, orange and lime zest as well a hearty backbone of herbs, spices and exotic botanicals that will take your bourbon, gin, tequila and Champagne cocktails to new heights.   Try a few dashes in sparkling water with a lime wedge on a hot summer day too!

Napa Valley Tamarind Lime Chili Bitters...$19.99 / 4oz
Inspired by yearly trips to Mexico where these flavors are abundant in the local cuisine. Weather, on meats, vegetables or snacks you will not make it far there with out tasting this flavor ensemble. I loved the combination so much I had to make a bitters flavor from them.   The Tamarind Lime Chili bitters is as innovative as it is delicious. Pairs perfectly with Tequila and mezcal concoctions. Though try it with Bourbon, Gin and Vodka drinks as well. You'll be happy you did.   The base spirits are 100% Agave Tequila Blanco, Anejo and neutral grain spirits. We then add tons of fresh Mexican tamarind, organic lime zest and a hand processed 5 Mexican chili blend. There are 40 other natural herbs, botanicals and spices that make up the hearty backbone of this bitters. Though most are Top Secret, there is notes of Mexican sarsaparilla, clove, allspice, and black pepper on the mid-pallet and a lingering bitter tartness on the finish that makes for good libation creation!

O'Fallon Hemp Hop Rye is here!

O'Fallon Hemp Hop Rye....$8.49 / 6pk
“That’s right, there’s hemp in this smooth and polished-tasting amber ale. To be specific, we use hemp seed – one of the oldest and healthiest of ingredients – to create a subtle toasted nutty favor that compliments the hops and rye. We use Cara Rye and Malted Rye for a subtle spiciness and rich ruby color and Victory Malt to tie together the flavors with a nuttiness that compliments the hemp seed flavor. German Hallertauer hops add seasoning and we finish with Cascade hops for a crisp citrus aroma and taste. This wide assortment of flavors form a harmony together, creating a uniquely smooth and flavorful everyday beer that isn’t overwhelming.”

Strawberry Lambicus

"The World's Oldest Lambic Brewery"

Timmermans Strawberry Lambicus...$10.99 / 750ml
For anyone who finds strawberries irresistible, Timmermans Strawberry evokes the fragrance of long sunny days. Its strawberry flavour will have you wrinkling your nose in delight with each sip. Its luminous colour and its fruity freshness are a treat for taste-buds and eyes alike. A totally juicy experience.
Taste-wise …
Its aroma evokes the perfumes of a lovely summer’s day. Its strawberry flavour confirms the nose’s impression, without being over-sweet, and is enhanced by a real feeling of freshness, recalling those tiny green granules that are found around ripened strawberries. Its taste is consistent and spreads very quickly throughout the mouth, finishing on a note that is fruity rather than sweet.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter and Watermelon Wheat

Horny Goat Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter...$7.99 / 4pk
"A full bodied porter that gets its dark color from the generous use of roasted malts.   We bring just enough hops to the party to balance out the heft malt backbone but still leave the stars of the show to shine.  You will get just the right amount of chocolate and peanut butter to question whether you're drinking a glass of delicious suds or popping a peanut butter cup in your mouth.

Watermelon Wheat is back!

Horny Goat Watermelon Wheat...$7.99 / 6pk
5.6% ABV | 19 IBUs
You asked and we listened. We’re showing our melons! The backbone of this brew is heavy on the wheat with just a touch of Vienna malt for complexity. We add real watermelon to our tanks during fermentation, leaving a fruity essence on the back end. German hops balance the fruit perfectly in this wheat ale for a slightly dry, extremely refreshing finish.

Education : Cotes du Rhone

Wine Tasting at all FOUR locations

Taste
Domaine de L'Echevin Guillaume de Rouville Cotes du Rhone at all four of our locations
this Saturday, May 3 from 11am-4pm.
(each store will also have other wines out to taste)

Area : Cotes du Rhone
The Cotes du Rhone appellation was introduced in November 1937, to provide a catch-all title for Rhone wines of reasonable quality, but which come from less well-known viticultural areas. The Cotes de Rhone Villages appellation is a step up from this, being granted to those communes that show particular viticultural qualities.

The principal red grapes permitted for use in Cotes du Rhone wines are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Grenache must make up a minimum of 40% of any red blend except for those produced north of the town of Montelimar. Montelimar marks the divide between the southern Rhone, where Grenache ripens very well, and the slightly cooler northern Rhone, to which it is not so suited. There are ten other varieties sanctioned for use in the appellation's red and rose wines, but they must not represent more than 30% of any wine blend. These are Carignan, Cinsaut,Counoise, Muscardin, Camarese, Vaccarese, Picpoul Noir, Terret Noir, Grenache Gris and Clairette.

The principal grapes used in Cotes du Rhone white wines are Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Marsanne,Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Viognier. Ugni Blanc and Picpoul Blanc may also be used to a maximum of 20% of any blend.

Come taste one of our favorite Cotes du Rhone this Saturday:

Tallgrass Halcyon Unfiltered Wheat...$7.99 / 4pk 16oz Cans
Style: Unfiltered American Wheat
ABV 5.0%
IBU 20
Interesting fact: The name of the farmer that grows our wheat is on every can: Bill Mai
Halcyon (hal-see-on) is an unapologetic American-style wheat beer with a taste like the finest days of summer. Our brewery is situated on the buckle of the “wheat-belt”, so this beer means something special to us. Halcyon Unfiltered Wheat is the result of our Midwestern angst, an all-American wheat with real Kansas-grown grain in the brew.
We start with raw Kansas white wheat in the mix to give it a nice edge, but what really makes it shine is the hops. We use "hop-bursting" of Citra Hops late in the brewing process and this gives Halcyon a palate of tropical fruit flavors & aromas with a bright and refreshing taste like the best days of summer. (swimmin’ hole and inner tube sold seperately)
malt: 2-Row Barley, White Wheat, Munich
hops: Nugget, Citra

  • Jayson Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon...$69.99
    Rancho Chimiles and Stagecoach Vineyard
Bold, mouthwatering aromas of ripe cherries, freshly cut carnation and cracked paper. The silky smooth entry evokes juicy red plums and rich Swiss chocolate, handsomely framed with notes of river stone, fennel and black tea, finishing with elegant, fine-grained tannins. The grape clusters were hand-sorted and de-stemmed, then sorted again on the way to tank. After five days of cold maceration in small open-top fermenters, the grapes began fermentation with 100% native yeast. After three weeks, the fruit was gently pressed and moved to French oak barrels (50% new) to complete primary and secondary fermentations, aged for eighteen months, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
