Mikkeller Crooked Moon Tattoo DIP

Mikkeller Crooked Moon Tattoo DIPA...$12.99 / 750ml
In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon.

The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name?

The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas.

The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol.

You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled.

Mikkeller / Prairie Artisan Ales Collab

Mikkeller / Prairie Artisan Ales Collab American-Style...$12.99 / 750ml
All-brett American IPA

You might think that two Wild and Crazy guys brewing beer in Belgium is something that happens every day. You’d be right about that. But when the two guys are Chase Healey of Prairie Artisan Ales (one of the hottest US breweries in 2013) and Mikkel Borg Bjergsø (the Godfather of Gypsy Brewers himself), well now that is something that definitely does not happen every day.

Bonding over their love mutual of American West Coast hops and Brettanomyces, the American and the Dane met up at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium. De Proef has been referred to as the Willy Wonka Beer Factory by at least one American brewer. The amazing place is run by a meticulous brewer/scientist named Dirk Naudts. Dirk doesn’t just make beer though. He does all sorts of research on hops and yeast, so De Proefbrouwerij was the perfect place for these two international brewing stars to meet and make a hella hoppy IPA with Brettanomyces.

We were not able to be there for the brewing, but were lucky enough to visit just a week or so later. After touring the brew house and spending some time having our minds blown by all the research on hops going on in the laboratory, Dirk wanted us to taste some beers. Great idea! We had already moved from talk of mapping the humulus lupulus genome to discussions about Dirk’s research into yeast, especially the aromatic compounds. The first beer Dirk wanted us to taste was one that was still fermenting and quite cloudy, but showed some wonderful tropical characteristics resulting from the special strain of Brettanomyces used for fermentation. The beer was also incredibly hoppy and quite dry. Dirk told us it was dry hopped with Citra. The result was something we would have been happy drinking all afternoon, if not for the couple dozen other beers Dirk wanted us to taste from other fermenters, bottles, and barrels we probably would have done so. American Style was the perfect start to the amazing journey that day, and now it is here for all fans of Mikkeller and Prairie Artisan Ales.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel...$8.49  / 11.2oz
10.9%
Rated 100 percentile on RateBeer
"This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civet cats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries. Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients :Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee." -- Mikkeller

"Beer Geek Brunch from Mikkeller is the highest rated Danish beer at RateBeer.com. And with the massive media coverage up to its release in early January, demand has obviously been much higher than supply. Beer Geek Brunch is in other words almost sold out. So Mikkel is getting ready for making the next batch Beer Geek Brunch in Norway. And a huge consignment of Ca Pe Chon coffee should also be on its way. On the picture you can see Rob with a weasel-poo full of the coffee beans that are giving Beer Geek Brunch its unique taste." -- Mikkeller

As we compose the text for this celebratory beer‐a golden‐brown India pale ale dry-hopped exclusively and abundantly with El Dorado hops‐we stand ready to leap from the precipice of all we know into a new era for our company, our beers and, most importantly, our fans. It’s one that will see us exploring new territory, both geographically and creatively, as we evolve from pacesetters for the American craft brewing movement to cross‐planetary champions of the worldwide cause of craft, hoisting our banner to proclaim artisanal beers’ vast superiority over stripped‐down, business-driven, industrialized, fizzy, yellow mediocrity. We thank you for shadowing us for the first 18 years of our journey, and welcome you to join us for next leg and all that follows.

Lakefront Pumpkin Lager

Lakefront Brewery Pumpkin Lager...$9.49 / 6pk
Lakefront Brewery's Pumpkin Lager is one of the only pumpkin lager available in the world; nearly all other pumpkin beers are ales. Using real pumpkin and a proprietary blend of spices made here in Milwaukee for us by the acclaimed Spice House, our brewers lager this beer for 4 full weeks. This extra time gives the Lakefront Pumpkin Lager a deep, smooth richness that no ale can match. A frothy entry leads to an off-dry medium-to-full body of intense cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and candied yam flavor on a nutty wheat toast palate. Finishes with a drier spice and light toffee fade. Caramel and Munich malts reinforce this beer's mouthfeel and lend to the malty sweetness. A nicely balanced spice beer for those cool fall nights.

Ridge Chardonnay and Cabernet

Ridge Estate Vineyards
These two Estate Wines come from the famous Monte Bello Vineyard at Ridge's Santa Cruz Mountains Estate and represent two of the best values in Cabernet and Chardonnay, though the wines aren't inexpensive they deliver way above their price point

2011 Ridge Estate Chardonnay...$43.99
The 2011 Chardonnay Estate is strikingly beautiful. Creamy, layered and impeccably balanced, the 2011 Chardonnay Estate is one of the most gorgeous whites I have ever tasted from Ridge. Hints of lemon, white flowers and crushed rocks are layered into an oily finish supported by beams of minerality. This is a gorgeous wine by any measure. Can the 2011 Chardonnay Montebello be much better than this? We will know the answer next year. Yields were quite a bit lower than normal as the Ridge team was forced to drop quite a bit of fruit to achieve full ripeness and eliminate botrytis in this cool, late-ripening year.
Rated 93+/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinious Media

2011 Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon...$44.99
Ridge's 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is quite laid back in this vintage. Sweet floral notes meld into red stone fruits, pomegranate and cinnamon. In keeping with the style of the year, the 2011 is medium in body, feminine and gracious. Best of all, it will drink well pretty much right out of the gate.
Rated 92/100, Antonio Galloni Vinious Media

2012 Longefay Brouilly Cru Beaujolais....$19.99
Some of the best vineyards in Brouilly from 20-110 year old vines!
A classic example of Brouilly. The wine has rich red raspberry, and mulberry flavors, with undertones of blue fruit. The finish is unexpectedly silky, long and lingering. In spite of Annie and Bernard’s understated demeanor, this is a wine with considerable elegance and sophistication. Typical of Beaujolais, the combination of soft tannins and bright fruit make this one of the most versatile food wines you can find. It is perfect with everything from pork, to pizza, and even barbeque.
