2021 Isabel Ferrando Chaeauneuf du Pape Rouge

Hot new Vintages are here!!!
2021 Isabel Ferrando Chaeauneuf du Pape ROUGE....$99.99
Bottled in April of this, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape clearly ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage and has more depth, concentration, and texture than most. Black raspberries, Provençal herbs, ground pepper, and assorted spices define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's not massive and plays in the elegant, fresher style of the vintage, but it's utterly beguiling with its complexity and nuance. Drink bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years.

Deep nose of beautifully ripe damson plums dusted with pepper and allspice. Really impressive structure and concentration for the challenging vintage, but the best thing about this wine is the finesse of the tannins that gently build to a stunning crescendo at the precisely nuanced finish, which has the freshness of the vintage in the most positive way. A cuvee with two-thirds grenache, plus mourvedre and just a touch of syrah. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Rated 95/100 James Suckling
An earthy, multilayered red, with a lot of stuffing and seductive mulled plum and cherry flavors, layered with wet leaves, black licorice and shaved graphite. Gains warmth and charm from well-integrated grilled apple wood, incense and baking spice notes. Delivers generous fruit yet reveals serious focus through the persistent finish, which goes on and on. Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2035. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

2022 Isabel Ferrando Chaeauneuf du Pape BLANC....$99.99
A very fresh, clean style, with white peach, creamed pear, star fruit and lime curd humming along with dried herbs, heather and a lot of wet stone. The intensity builds with mineral energy, notes of fleur de sel and succulent acidity driving the drawn-out, voluptuous finish, marked by shortbread and smoke. Clairette and Roussanne. Drink now through 2027. 750 cases made, 225 cases imported.
Rated 93/100 The Wine Spectator
The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is terrific, with a Burgundian-like minerality as well as classy notes of orchard fruits, orange blossom, spice, and crushed stone. It's medium-bodied, has beautiful purity and precision, good acidity, and a great finish. This terrific white is a no-brainer purchase and will evolve for 7-8 years, if not over a decade.

2021 Isabel Ferrando Colombis Chateauneuf du Pape....$189.99
I also loved the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis, another incredible achievement in this vintage. Wild strawberries, savory flowers, subtle Provençal garrigue, and assorted spices define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has silky tannins, and a layered, balanced, seamless profile that's already impossible to resist.
Rated 96/100 Jeb Dunnuck
There are just 4,000 bottles of the 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis, but the quality has been maintained, even in this challenging year. It takes a bit of swirling to open up, but once it does, it reveals scents of black cherries, mocha and orange zest on the nose. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied without being heavy, but it is perhaps a bit more velvety in texture than its usual silk.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
A giant amongst the 2021 Chateauneufs with a remarkable density of black cherry and wild herb aromas for the vintage. A very serious tannin structure and intense licorice character dominate the palate, but it’s not a jot too much. The plushness and freshness of the finish is amazing for 2021. A complex cuvee that is based on old vine grenache from three contrasting terroirs. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Rated 96/100 James Suckling
A stunning wine that's just beginning to unfurl. Starts off plush in feel, with alluring black raspberry and dark cherry coulis, but muscular tannins hold a firm grip. Gains drive and length from generous white and black pepper and mineral energy, with spice box, cocoa powder, black tea and toasted aniseed details. Will evolve gorgeously with time. Best from 2025 through 2038. 850 cases made, 150 cases imported.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Spectator
