Great Divide Samurai Rice Ale

Great Divide Samurai Rice Ale...$8.49 / 6pk Cans

ABV: 5.5%
Beer Description: Samurai is the perfect beer for your zen garden after a battle or your patio after a long day of work. The addition of rice gives a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing element to this unfiltered ale, creating a light, easy-going beer suitable for the peaceful warrior.

Food Pairing: Seared tuna with sesame seeds, green papaya salad, basil fried rice, Humbolt Fog goat cheese, strawberry shortcake.

Fun Facts:
Originally brewed ten years ago in 2006.
With limited room in the portfolio, Samurai was retired in 2012 to make space to brew Colette and Nomad year-round.
The recipe has never changed.
Though it is a Rice Ale, it is not Gluten-Free. We still use barley in the recipe. Because of its status as a cult favorite, we’ve decided to resurrect Samurai into a year-round beer.

SAMURAI RICE ALE RE-RELEASED IN CANS!
The year was 2012 and the brewery faced an impossible decision: with Colette, Nomad, and Samurai all vying for a coveted spot in the year-round lineup, only 2 could move forward. Although the decision was a hard one, we ultimately decided to send Samurai Rice Ale back to the mountains of Japan and into early retirement. There he spent his days not playing shuffleboard or learning how to crochet, but training to become one of the best Samurais in the land. Ultimately, preparing for his glorious and inevitable return.

Fast forward to 2016 where we, as well as many of you, felt a gaping hole in our hearts and fridges where Samurai once used to be. The decision to bring Samurai home was an easy one and we’re so excited to announce that he will make his much-anticipated return this month! We are honored and humbled to have such a Bold Character back in our presence. Although he has returned with a refreshed look and adorned with new armor, his taste and recipe remain the same classic beer we all remember enjoying a few years ago. With his hands on his hips, his bun pulled tightly back, and his sword at his side, Samurai is back and ready to defend his honor, for good.
