The 2019 Syrah Lorraine is ultra-classic and is about as textbook an example of this cuvée as I can recall. Black raspberries, cassis, spring flowers, and baking spices all flow to a full-bodied, round, velvety textured, utterly seamless Syrah with ripe tannins, a great mid-palate, and a gorgeous finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. It's impossible to resist today (and I see no need to delay gratification), yet it will continue to deliver the goods any time over the coming 20-25 years.

Deep ruby-purple, it has a pure core of cassis and slowly unfolding accents of licorice, cured meats, tobacco leaves, cedar and truffle. Full-bodied, juicy and alluring, it floods the mouth with layers of blue fruit, floral perfume and spice. It is supported by powdery tannins and boasts a tremendously long, detailed finish.

2021 Caterwaul - Cabernet Sauvignon Cemetery Vineyard...$179.99
The wine offers up a serious, classic St. Helena, full-bodied style loaded with ripe black fruits, chocolate, charcoal, and graphite, with a hint of that classic walnut shell-like character. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, it has ripe tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. This borderline perfect wine is something to behold, and while it already is impossible to resist, hide bottles for 4-6 years if you can and enjoy over the following two decades.

Awesome levels of blackcurrants, darker cherries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and scorched earth all emerge from the 2022 Château Malartic-Lagravière, an incredibly concentrated, rich, layered beauty that has velvety tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's easily the finest I've tasted from this château and is a riveting 2022 that deserves 4-6 years in the cellar and will keep for two decades or more....
