Glasgow Distillery - First started in 2012
Founders Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward embark on a mission to bring single malt whisky distilling back to the city of Glasgow and officially incorporate ‘The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd.’ Named after one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland. The original Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 1770, subsequently operated under a number of different names, and produced unpeated, peated, and triple distilled single malt until its eventual closure in 1902.A SPIRIT IS BORN: On the 5th March 2015, the very first cask of single malt scotch whisky was filled. Glasgow, once again has a single malt whisky to call its own….

The Original is the whisky that started it all. Our inaugural expression, The Original is a fresh and fruity single malt that combines the finest concerto malted barley with the purest Scottish water from Loch Katrine.
The Glasgow Distillery 1770 The Original is matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels and finished for 6-9 months in virgin oak casks. This is a non-age statement whisky, but the actual age is around 4 years old.
Nose: Malty and sweet. Fruity. Mild alcohol sting. Vanilla and orchard fruits. With time more malty. Hints of cinnamon and milk chocolate. Very nice development with further time. Lovely vanilla notes and hints of tropical fruits.
Taste: Medium body. A fair bit of pepper on the palate. Malty. Chocolate. Dry-ish. Clean and fruity.

Glasgow 1770 Peated is our rich and smoky expression. The finest Scottish concerto barley is smoked to 50 ppm using aromatic heather-rich peat sourced from the Scottish Highlands.
An outrageously deep and dark whisky that absolutely oozes “class in the glass.” For those who tend toward the Islay end of the peat scale it’s probably not going to deliver the goods, but it’s a great alternative option for fans of a sweeter peat style."
