Henry is showing off some of the diverse products we well at The Wine and Cheese Place -- Mezcal with Lemongrass, Pineapple Amaro, Oregon American Whiskey....
He is also crafting a cocktail to taste that will include the lemongrass Mezcal and the Pineapple Amaro (we did some taste tests on Sunday).
Heirloom Pineapple Amaro...$35.99 / 750ml
Heirloom Pineapple Amaro is a full bodied amaro composed with tropical ingredients like Queen Victoria pineapple, native to the Caribbean and Jamaican Quassia Bark. At once rich and fruity yet sophisticated and bitter, Pineapple Amaro is an ideal cocktail ingredient as well as neat pour digestivo.
Mal Bien Morales Lopez Mezcal Zacate Limon....$28.99
Originally created by Maestro Mezcalero Lucio Morales as a gift to his wife, Agustina, “Zacate” is produced by the Morales family using the same traditional process as their classic “white tape” espadín, with one important twist: Freshly cut lemongrass is added to the stills before the second distillation, and a bit more is macerated in the finished product for an extra touch of aromatics and color. The result is a bright and lively expression of espadín that makes a great highball, brings an interesting twist to classic mezcal cocktails, or works as a fun plug-andplay substitute for gin. Zacate Limón, Receta Original de Lucio Morales López
- 100% Agave Espadín
- Roasted in Earth
- Crushed by Tahona
- Fermented in Pine
- Distilled in Copper Pots with Fresh Lemongrass
Mal Bien Morales Lopez Mezcal Espadin....$33.99
- Prehispanic Oven
- Tahona Crushed
- Open Fermented in Pine with well water
- 2X distilled on copper Alambiques
Complex enough to be enjoyed on its own, at 91 proof it’s also assertive enough to shine through in cocktails where lower ABV mezcales can easily get lost.
Ransom The Emerald American Whiskey...$69.99
on sale, was $79.99
90 Points Spirit
2021 Gold Medal
The Emerald 1865 is a highly aromatic spirit with the weight, richness, and complexity of its forbearers. In seeking to recreate a whiskey of another time and place, we feel we have created a spirit that speaks meaningfully to its provenances; Ireland of yore, and the green hills of Oregon. The Emerald 1865 Straight American Whiskey is made from a mash of malted barley, unmalted barley, rye, and oats. Once the grains have been harvested, they are milled and mashed before being distilled on a handmade, direct-fired alembic pot still.
Tasting Notes: Bold aroma of oats, malt, and earthy minerals. Rich, structured flavor profile, with notes of caramel, green herbs, and fresh whipped cream. The finish is long and satisfying, with a touch of spice. Aged three to six years in mixed cooperage of French and American oak barrels.
