Bavaria’s oldest wheat “Doppelbock” was launched in 1907 by then owner Mathilde Schneider. Inspired by the women’s suffrage movement she covertly operated the brewery after her husband’s passing and oversaw the creation of the brewery’s most coveted recipe. Named after the 16th century Bavarian historian, Johannes Aventinus, the beer is regarded as one of the most extraordinary beers in brewing history.

The sweet malty aroma is an invitation to an even more complex and full bodied beer. Fruity yeast esters break through pronounced notes of caramel, raisins and dark bread. This ingenious blend of flavors is carried along an extremely smooth mouthfeel, with a subtle reminder of the beers strength at the finish.
