Cognac, Armagnac and Calvados tasting
With Steffen Spinks of Heavenly Spirits
Open House tasting at the Infamous Bar
Inside the Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton

Friday, December 2nd from 4:30 to 6pm

We’re pouring great French brandies (and a French single malt) on Friday night with our friend, Steffen Spinks from importer Heavenly Spirits. He’ll be here to guide you through three distinctive brandy producing regions and answer any questions about brandy in general.

Calvados Chauffe Coeur VSOP…$39.99/750ml
6 yrs old
Origin: According to the original and ancient recipe, the Calvados Chauffe Coeur are a blend of Calvados Appellation (single distillation) and Calvados Pays d’Auge (double distillation).

Marie Duffau Bas Armagnac Hors D'Age 12yr...$49.99 / 750ml
Rich flavors of toffee, old oak, pitted plum and raisins; elegant rancio and long round finish. Min. 12 years old.

Bas Armagnac Dartigalongue Hors d’Age…$63.99/750ml
Min. 15 years old
Deep amber color, scents of baked apple, butter and black oak. The mouth is vibrant and generous, featuring again the baked apples, the oak and then some toffee and vanilla with some hints of tobacco toward the end. The finish is long, fat and silky.Jean Fillioux Cognac

Grande Champagne VSOP Subtil…$64.99/750ml
Aged 4-6 years in oak. “Our VSOP offers a fruity and fine floral nose. The taste reminds me of the fresh figs in our garden, citrus fruits melted with the roundness of muscat, almond paste and orange blossom. The finish is both gourmet and warm as it seems subtly spicy...” - Christophe Fillioux

Bastille 1789 French Single Malt Whiskey...$59.99 / 750ml
100% malted barley from North East of France, where some of the world’s finest Scotch producers source their malt.
Yeast: A cultured yeast whose strain is 120 years old.
Distillation: Distilled twice in Charente copper stills.
Water: From the purest Charente springs, naturally filtered for centuries through the limestone layers in the soil of the region.
Ageing: Limousin oak barrels which had previously held Sauternes, Red Burgundy, and Sherry.
Tasting notes: With a deep amber color, BASTILLE 1789 Single Malt proves to be a soft, rich, and complex whisky. It presents complex notes of fruit, sweet spices, and leather, ending with a slightly peaty finish. It reveals layers of character brought about by the triple cask ageing.
