 Delicious Sparkler for Easter Brunch

Vices & Vertus Orgueil Brut Methode Traditionelle...$19.99/750ml

As the voice of the new generation at Chéreau Carré in France’s Loire Valley, Louise Chéreau is shaking things up by creating fresh new expressions of traditional grapes and terroirs. In this spirit, the Vices & Vertus line was born. She makes bottle-fermented sparkling wine made with melon de bourgogne, the traditional grape of Muscadet. The fruit comes from 40-year-old vines at the winery’s Chasseloir estate, a prime location on the Maine river on schist soils. After initial fermentation in underground cement tanks, the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged on the lees for 9 months. The resulting wine is soft and fresh with just enough acid to be playful. Its a perfectly delicious accompaniment to a huge tray of briny oysters (it is melon de bourgogne after all!) or on its own as a dreamy aperitif. This bottling shows Muscadet through a novel and delightful lens and hints at the immense potential of the region for sparkling wines.

This is delicious! In stock at Kirkwood or online.
