The Whiskey Advocate on Courage & Conviction Single Malt
91 Points:”The nose has an earthy expression of the grain, and works in heady aromas of guava, pomegranate, blueberries, and kiwi, along with sandalwood soap. It’s oily and silky in the mouth, with forthright lemon and orange oil, guava, and kiwi, as well as dried leaves, nutty tobacco, and peppery spice. The finish is gentle and fades slowly, with lemon oil, milk chocolate, and a hint of ashy charred nuts. (9,600 bottles)
Aged a minimum of three years, this 100% malted barley whisky is matured in former Sherry, Bourbon and Cuvée wine casks.
About our host:
Amanda Beckwith is the Guest Experience & Education Manager at Virginia Distillery Company. After launching the tour and tasting program for the distillery’s Visitor Center, Amanda moved into blending. She has been fortunate to train with the best, including nosing expert Nancy Fraley, Scottish consultants Harry Cockburn and the late Dr. Jim Swan. Amanda helped to develop and now leads the company’s sensory program, as well as internal and external company education and training.
