Halcon Oppenlander Pinot Noir - small production - great wine

Very small, limited release

/

2017 Halcon Oppenlander Pinot Noir...$33.99
This medium-bodied wine blends good, nervy raspberry and sour cherry aromas with savory, woodsy flavors that are not so fruit-centered but tempting and complex, from black tea to rhubarb and mushroom. Good acidity and moderate tannins form a firm texture that will enable at least mid-term aging. Best through 2025.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Oppenlander was harvested on September 28, made with 40% whole cluster and aged in 20% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby, it's softly scented of cranberry, rhubarb, raspberry and blackberry hints with dried flowers, dusty earth and tea leaves with a citrus peel hint. Light to medium-bodied, it offers good concentration of sweet red berry fruit in the mouth, very softly structured with juicy acidity and finishing long and earthy. 215 cases were made.
