Champagne Larmandier-Bernier
Following the advice of one of our customers we brought in a few cases of the NV Larmandier-Bernier Longitude for the holidays. It was a huge hit with both our customers and our staff. So we dug a little deeper into their portfolio and have a great selection from this wonderful Champagne House in stock now at Forsyth
NV Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blanc 1er Cru...$63.99
Lovely classy green-gold colour shouts Chardonnay. Minerals, chalk, a hint of spices, and fine, fine tension in the mouth. Moreish and complete, a fine long wine. SF: Lively and energetic. The palate is spicy and firm with a soft white pepper backdrop. An accessible and ripe style, fresh and poised at the same time. TH: Slightly closed nose with grapefruit. Pretty high-pitched lemon pith notes coming through. It's a little uncompromising and hard for general champagne drinkers maybe, but this is a winner for those who like it honed, dry and persistent.

NV Larmandier-Bernier Rose de Saignee Extra Brut...$85.99
Larmandier-Bernier’s Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée just sensational. The Rosé is endowed with stunning depth, richness and explosive aromatic intensity. Over the last few vintages, the Larmandier’s have moved their Rosé away from the dark, overt wines of the past to a style that emphasizes focus and cut. Those qualities come through loud and clear in a Champagne that sizzles with tension. A whole range of floral and savory overtones punctuate the striking finish. Simply magnificent. Run, don’t walk.

2013 Larmandier-Bernier Terre de Vertus Non Dose....$78.99
A more composed and contained vintage for chardonnay, this blanc de blancs is an assemblage of six parcels, all closely located in the village of Vertus, totaling 2.5 hectares. The nose has a very fresh and chalky edge with dried flowers and fresh lemons. The palate has a very succulent, composed and elegant shape with powerful, contained fruit. A cooler vintage has refined this nicely. Super dry, mineral finish. A strong vintage for this Champagne. Drink or hold.

2012 Larmandier-Bernier Les Chemins d'Avize...$129.99
Disgorged in March 2018 to be released later this year is the 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Les Chemins d'Avize, an impressive wine that wafts from the glass with scents of almond paste, pear, lemon and crushed chalk that are gently wood-inflected at this early stage, though I expect that will be hard to discern with a few more months on cork. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and textural, with a deep and multidimensional core and a precise, lively finish. I'm looking forward to revisiting it.
