2016 Jean Grivot wine for the ages! We were able to secure a great allocation from this historic producer. From Village to Grand Cru Grivot has produced some of the greatest wines of this generation.
Overall, this was a deeply impressive set of wines from Etienne, although to be frank, that comes as no surprise these days. With his daughter Matilde joining him at the helm, there is a sense of momentum behind Grivot as the wines achieve new heights.-The Wine Advocate
2016 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee....$94.99
Bright, dark red. Aromas of black cherry and cocoa powder. Juicy and energetic, showing lovely inner-mouth lift and refinement to its flavors of black fruits, licorice, violet and cocoa powder. Quite tightly wound on the sappy back end, spreading out subtly and leaving behind vibrant note of spices and black pepper.

2016 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee Les Beaux Monts...$269.99
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a very pure, quite generous and maybe more expressive bouquet compared to the Aux Brûlées at the moment with copious black cherries, raspberry coulis and crushed flower aromas. The palate has superb energy and precision, extremely detailed with layers of mineral-soaked red and black fruit commingling on the sustained finish that fans out with style and panache. God...I love this. One of Etienne's best in 2016.

2016 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru....$329.99
The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru was reduced by one-third due to the frost, unorthodox in that it affected the higher part of Etienne's vines. It has a slightly more rustic, almost obdurate nose than the previous two vintages, with touches of dried blood and something almost ferrous sutured into the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin and moderate weight, although the finish seems to pull on the brakes a little too early and I found the final third missing substance and depth
Rated 91-94/100 Burghound
2016 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru...$449.99
A deft touch of wood frames a restrained if perfumed nose of cinnamon, rose petal, violet and cassis. The velvety, round and utterly seductive large-scaled flavors are brimming with dry extract on the mouth coating but entirely serious finish that displays sensational length. The Clos de Vougeot is potentially a very fine effort but this clearly is at another level. Again though, patience advised.

2016 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru....$1499.99
The 2016 Richebourg Grand Cru was not touched at all by the frost, so there are the full five barrels this year (sometimes it can be six). It has a majestic bouquet with ample blackberry, raspberry preserve and brown spice scents, later a touch of white flowers and truffle. This is so mercurial in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin. This is beautifully focused, tensile and brimming with energy, yet it remains linear, almost aloof right to the finish, a covert sign that it should not be broached for at least a decade like most great Richebourgs. An aristocrat.
