James Oliver Whiskeys!

We have a great price on these...

James Oliver Rye Whiskey...$25.99
100 proof
The first is James Oliver Rye Whiskey, a 100-proof product made from a mash of 100% rye grain and aged at least four years in oak barrels whose insides are so heavily charred that the technical term for their char level is "alligator skin char." The actual location of the distillery is a mystery, but the product is proofed and bottled in Oregon by Indio Spirits Distillery.   The resulting product retails in the high 20-dollar range, and exhibits some really nice spicy notes from the grain and roasted nutty characteristics contributed by the oak barrels. There are also buttery and peppery aspects to the rye that work very nicely in cocktails. James Oliver has become my most recent ingredient of choice for Manhattans in my home bar. It is available at most of the best liquor stores in town, although you might have to hunt for it since the small distillery doesn't market it as aggressively as the big boys. Don't expect to see a giant end-cap shelf with a tower of bottles to attract your attention. - Nashville Scene
