How can you get some?
Demand has grown so high on these limited bourbon releases that there is no perfectly fair way to allocate them out. We used to keep a waiting list, but it just grew too big for the amount of product we get. We don't want to be the ones to determine which customers deserve it over another--an impossible job. So we use the online reservation system and the fastest people get to purchase a bottle. Not a perfect system, but it seems to work the best for us. I know some people wont have access to a computer or smart phone at the time we picked, but it is just random choice, again anytime there will be people left out.
- There will be a link to reserve and you can choose to pick up at any of our locations.
- Make sure you set up an account at www.wineandcheeseplace.com before Tuesday morning, so you can order with speed.
- Limit to 1 bottle per person
- When you order, you will put in the notes box the order of your choice. We will go down the orders in the order they arrive and fill them. For example, if this is the order you picked, George T. Stagg, Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old, Eagle Rare 17 Year Old, Thomas H. Handy Rye Whiskey, William Larue Weller. If we get to your order and Stagg and Sazerac 18 are sold out, your bottle would be Eagle Rare.
- For pick up orders, you do not need to put in your credit card. You will pay at pick up.
- All bottles must be picked up within 7 days, or they will go back out for sale.
- Just getting an order in is no guarantee, you will need to wait for a confirmation which could take a half an hour or so. But you will get an email telling you what you got or if you did not get anything.
- If you click the link and the Antique Collection does not show up, that means you are too late and it has been turned off.

At long last, Buffalo Trace Distillery is releasing its 2012 Antique Collection in September. The much anticipated collection will once again feature five limited-release whiskeys of various ages, recipes and proofs. Here’s what ardent fans can expect:
Eagle Rare 17 Year Old
The previous edition of this bourbon was honored with a Gold Medal at the 2012 International Wine and Spirits Competition. The 2012 edition was distilled in the spring of 1993 and has been aging on the 2nd, 3rd and 6th floors of Warehouses I and K. After nearly two decades of aging under its belt, it has been described as dry and delicate, with hints of leather, almonds and tobacco.

The 2011 release of this perennial favorite was named the “Number One Spirit in the World” by F. Stagg was found in Warehouses H, I, K and L. This uncut, unfiltered bourbon was distilled back in the spring of 1995 and weighs in at 142.8 proof—some strong stuff! This whiskey tastes of rich dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla.

Last year’s release won a double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This 2012 rye whiskey release was aged in Warehouses K and is described as intense spice with underlying sweetness and dry finish.

This year’s Handy was distilled in the spring of 2006, aged on the fifth floor of Warehouse O and weighs in at 132.4 proof. The flavor has been described as cinnamon, dark fruit, allspice, lingering.

I posted some additional information on the Antique Collection. Basically it is Buffalo Traces name for these 5 Bourbons.
