Boulevard / Orval Collaboration?

Collaboration with Missouri's own Boulevard?

The brewmaster for Boulevard was in St. Louis not too long ago and mentioned that they were doing a collaboration with another brewery -- he would not divulge any more details. I asked him: was it with another American craft brewer? European? He would not say.

And then this week --
Jean-Marie Rock was in Kansas City visiting the brewery? Could that be the collaboration? Jean-Marie Rock, the brewmaster of the famous trappist brewery -- ORVAL? Boulevard would not confirm the rumor. We will have to wait and see, but that would be one exciting collaboration!

Right now, you can enjoy the great beers separately:
If you have not had Orval -- give one a try - very delicious!
Orval Trappist Ale
"The gustative sensations will gain in nuance depending on the age of the beer. Young beer is characterised by a bouquet of fresh hops, with a fruity note and pronounced bitterness, light on the palate and a less firm collar than a beer of six months. The latter will feature a bouquet consisting of a blend of fragrances of yeast and old-fashioned hop. The bitterness is more diffuse and the taste has moved to a slight touch of acidity accompanying yeast and caramel flavours. Served without its sediments, a beer of six months or more, has a particularly bright appearance." -- Orval

huh? Where'd you see that Orval's Brewmaster was visiting Boulevard?

I actually heard it from a few people, I think he also did a "beer school" in K.C. with Steven Pauwels of Boulevard. The beer community is small!

He will be visiting at the end of the month. This was announced at the last beer school at Barley's in Overland Park by Steven Pauwels. It was co-led by Carl Kins (sp?) and they talked about Belgian beers in general and had a fantastic sampling line-up for $10. The next beer school is to feature Pauwels and Jean-Marie Rock, on Monday, October 26th. I'm not sure when the actual brewing will take place. If anyone is considering making the trek, i might be able to divulge a little more rumor.
