• Base Spirit: Made from neutral grain or potato spirit, infused with a blend of spices and botanicals, with caraway being the dominant flavor. Other botanicals include dill, fennel, anise, and coriander.

• Aging Process: What sets Linie Aquavit apart is its unique aging journey. The aquavit is aged in oak sherry casks and undergoes a literal voyage around the world. This means it crosses the equator (the "linie") twice during its maturation process. The constant motion, changing temperatures, and exposure to sea air are believed to enhance the spirit's complexity.

• Flavor Profile: It has a smooth, slightly oily texture with prominent notes of caraway and anise, complemented by hints of vanilla, oak, and dried fruit from the sherry cask aging.

History

Linie Aquavit traces its origins to the early 19th century. Its signature aging process was discovered by chance when barrels of aquavit sent to Southeast Asia returned to Norway significantly improved in flavor. Since then, the journey has become an essential part of the production process.
