Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye

Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye...$49.99 / 750ml
The Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye is an homage to a Pre-Prohibition regional style of whiskey making that has been lost for over fifty years. Immensely popular with Union Soldiers stationed in Washington DC during the Civil War, Maryland rye became renowned for its softer, fruitier character and its reputation only grew from there. After Prohibition, many of Maryland’s distilleries were sold off for their property value, or turned over to industrial enterprises looking to capitalize on Maryland rye’s reputation with a cheaper substitute. The last Maryland rye distillery from that era shuttered its doors in 1972. Thanks to a friendly collector, Todd Leopold was able to sample numerous bottles of real Maryland Rye Whiskey from 60+ years ago and catalogued their flavor profiles. Working from those tasting notes, the Leopold Bros’ Maryland Style Rye Whiskey is made with a mash bill of 65% rye, 15% corn, and 20% of our beloved floor malted barley. Using a variant of yeast that brought out the fruitiness of the rye, rather than its spiciness, the whiskey was pot distilled and aged five years in our Colorado dunnage warehouses. The resulting spirit is fruity and floral at its core with a soft, buttery finish that emulates the rye whiskies of Maryland’s historic past

2020 Andremily No. 9....$129.99
I loved the 2020 No 9 from barrel and this beauty does not disappoint from bottle. Based on 89% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, and the rest Viognier that was only 50% destemmed, it spent 22 months in 65% new French oak. A wine that demands lots of air to show at its best, it reveals a deep plum/purple hue as well as a brilliant bouquet of red, blue, and black fruits, ground pepper, iodine, crushed violets, and wild sagebrush. With incredible purity and precision aromatically, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, concentrated mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a big, rich wine from Binns, but if anything, it shows another level of finesse and stays light on its feet and graceful. This world-class Syrah will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following two decades. It's clearly one of the wines of the vintage in Santa Barbara, if not one of the greatest 2020s in the state.

2021 Pax Sonoma Hillsides Syrah...$55.99
The 2021 Syrah Sonoma Hillsides is towering and statuesque in bearing from the very first taste. I don’t think I have ever tasted a Sonoma Hillsides with this much finesse, this much purity. A wine of vertical energy, the Sonoma Hillsides possesses tremendous depth from start to finish. In many vintages the Hillsides leans towards a darker expression of Syrah. The 2021, on the other hand, is marked by more of a red/purplish fruit profile, with bright floral and citrus overtones that confer freshness. Once again, Pax Mahle made one of the truly epic wines of the year. His Sonoma Hillsides has been one of the very finest wines in Northern California for a number of years now.
Rated 98/100 Vinous Media

2020 Alban Vineyards Syrah Patrina...$59.99
Bottled in January of 2023, the 2020 Syrah Patrina opens with iodine and cassis, taking time to blossom with scents of tar, blueberry candy and peppermint patty. The palate is full-bodied and highly polished with abundant, velvety tannins, bursts of mouthwatering acidity and a surprisingly ethereal finish.
Rated 94/100 The Wine Advocate

2021 Dumol Wild Mountainside Sryah Russian River...$66.99
Great fruit concentration and subtle oak spices deserve attention in this ripe, complex and nicely tannic wine. Blackberries, blueberries, rosemary and dark chocolate make a compelling combo on the palate.
Rated 95/00 The Wine Enthusiast

2018 Betz Family Winery Domaine de Pierres Syrah...$62.99

Coming from the Ancient Stones Vineyard in the Rocks region of Walla Walla, the 2018 Syrah Domaine De Pierres is 100% Syrah that was not destemmed and was brought up in a mix of small and larger barrels. Classic Rocks notes of red and blue fruits, peppered game, exotic flowers, sweet mulch, and other herbal and cedary notes define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a soft, rounded texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. While it has plenty of funkiness, it also has ample fruit as well as purity. It's approachable today yet will keep for 10-15 years.

2017 K Vintners "The Hidden" Syrah...$69.99

Happy to see it finer-grained than some, but equally intense. Tobacco, ash and dark fruit. Some grilled meat, too. Full-bodied with a spice, white-pepper and hunan finish. Wow is all I can say! Drink or hold.

The new 2020 Anremily Wines are here, if you like Sine Qua Non, you must grab these wines while they last.
2020 Andremily Mourvedre...$129.99

Not yet bottled, the 2020 Mourvèdre, blended with 12% Syrah and 2% Viognier, is already offering incredible varietal character and expression. Made using 75% whole clusters, fruit comes from several Central Coast vineyards including Alta Mesa (Santa Barbara County), G2 (Paso Robles), Larner (Ballard Canyon) and Slide Hill (Edna Valley). It will be matured for about 21 months, with 50% in new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids and 50% in used barriques. Deep purple-ruby in color, the nose opens slowly to loamy earth, dried lavender, mint leaves and a pure, concentrated core of cassis and baked blueberries. The palate is bursting with layer after layer of perfumed fruit. It has a fine, silky texture, alluring meaty accents, bursts of fresh acidity highlighting its perfume and a very long, layered finish. It feels very complete on the eve of its bottling, scheduled for mid-August 2022 (I tasted this on May 25, 2022).

Fruit comes from several vineyards throughout the Central Coast including Slide Hill, White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke, Kimsey and Alta Mesa. It will mature for 22 months in 65% new and 35% used French barriques. Opaque ruby-purple in color, it features aromas of black olives, ground coffee, turned earth and forest floor, before unfolding to pure blueberry liqueur, cassis, licorice and violet—what alluring aromas! Full-bodied, the palate is grainy and seamless, with concentrated, floral fruits and a very long, nuanced finish. Around 850 cases and a few magnums of this powerful Syrah will be made.

Smoke Wagon Halloween Limited Edition Bourbon

The bottle glows in the dark!
very little left !

Smoke Wagon Halloween Limited Edition Bourbon....$27.99
Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey
92.5 proof
2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold Winner!
Just released in fall of 2019, the goal was to create an affordable everyday bourbon that had that unique and unmistakable Smoke Wagon flavor, consisting of delicate sweet notes with a rye spice finish. Barrels with our same high rye mash bill were racked on the top two floors of the warehouse and never rotated. The higher the floor the hotter it gets in the summer causing more expansion and more movement into the wood. Because we don’t chill filter, these combined aspects create a bourbon that is rich and creamy beyond its years. Never rotating the barrels ensures there are no harsh tannin flavors and the high rye mash bill adds a delightfully spicy and nutty finish.
Nose: honey, toasted nuts and with some oak and heat.
Taste: Creamy mouthfeel with initial rich sweet notes of honey and caramel on the tip of the tongue followed by nuts, oak and pepper spice that starts on the sides of your tongue. The nuttiness and oak fade as pepper spice from the rye takes over the entirety of your pallet. Finishes with a creamy sweetness that coats followed by once again by oak and a pepper spice that lingers .

Medium-bodied, this stunning wine has wonderful transparency, with fine sweet tannins, ripe red berries, and fresh flowers. Its fabulous, mineral-laced texture lasts for days, and while it will certainly have serious longevity, it’s irresistible now. Drink 2023-2043.
Rated 98/100 Jeb Dunnuck

2018 Dierberg Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Drum Canyon....$61.99
Bright, snappy aromas of baby strawberries and fresh raspberries meet with an earthy streak of crushed slate on the vibrant nose of this bottling. That playfulness tightens dramatically on the sip, where dry tannins grab hold before opening up toward cherry, pomegranate, loamy soil and more dark-slate elements

St. George 40th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whiskey

St. George 40th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whiskey....$529.99
on sale $399.99 (2 bottles available at this price)
Bottled with a punch at 48% ABV, only 1,982 bottles of St. George Spirits 40th Anniversary Edition Single Malt made for the world!
In celebration of 40 years of artisan distillation, we are proud to share the 40th Anniversary Edition of St. George Single Malt Whiskey. This highly limited bottling brings together decades of craftsmanship and our ever-growing collection of unique and varied finishing casks to create a singular spirit that is a true collector’s item for connoisseurs of American single malt.

In preparation for this one-time-only release, head distiller/blender Dave Smith spent months meticulously working through our library of casks. Of the 600+ we sampled, only 30 made the initial cut, and we ultimately selected a mere 14 casks to create the whiskey that went into bottle.
In the words of master distiller Lance Winters: “Our 40th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whiskey represents the cumulative experience of 40 years of boundary-pushing distillation, as well as our decades-long love affair with making single malt. It's the pure essence of passionate self-expression—and it's also delicious.” Not that he’s biased.

The mash bill for the 40th Anniversary single malt is the same one we have used since we started laying down barrels in 1997: 100% two-row barley at five precise roast levels: pale malt, crystal malt, chocolate malt, black patent malt, and alder/beechwood-smoked malt that we get from Bamburg, Germany. What sets this whiskey apart from our annual Lot series releases is the special quality of the casks we used to make it. For more on that, read on.
