2010 Barolos score big with The Wine Advocate

These are all very limited.  Antonio Galloni already scored them big, The Wine Advocate just scored them....I am sure The Wine Spectator is next!

Stock up on 2010 Barolo...

“The 2010 vintage of Barolo is the most Nebbiologgiante vintage in recent memory. It offers a pristine and absolutely immaculate view into this great native grape that thrives so successfully in the Langhe area of northwest Italy. Without a doubt, it will be recorded as one of the great vintages of the past decades.”- Monica Larner The Wine Advocate

Early reports of the 2010 vintage from Piedmont were very positive and the recent reviews from The Wine Advocate seem to confirm the 2010 is going to be thought of as one of the great and classic vintages in the last few decades. While there are many great Barolo yet to be released we have 5 Classic Rated (95-100 Points) Barolo on out shelves right now, though they are sure not to last long.

2010 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito...$139.99
With recently expanded acquisitions in this vineyard cru, the 2010 Barolo Lazzarito shows an expansive personality with pretty tones of crushed rose and red berry fruit that give the wine a delicate, feminine approach. Like the other wines in Luca’s portfolio of new releases, this Barolo is years away from its prime drinking potential. The next ten years should see a steady evolution of aromas stemming from the spice, tar and licorice layers already on display despite the wine’s young age. The mouthfeel is fine and polished with a great sense of purity and balanced freshness. Drink: 2018-2035.

Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 96/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2010 Vietti Barolo Brunate...$139.99
The 2010 Barolo Brunate impresses for its textural richness and aromatic generosity. The Brunate crus shows exceptionally well in 2010, offering the kind of structure that is as powerful and lasting as it is finessed and graceful. It’s the proverbial iron fist in a silken glove. A burgeoning bouquet of dried flower and pressed cherry roots the wine in a sense of freshness and youthfulness. Indeed, Brunate is a vineyard cru that is particularly suited to long-living Barolo. It is a crime to drink this wine before its time. Drink: 2018-2035.
Rated 96/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 97/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2010 Luigi Einaudi Barolo Cannubi...$83.99
The 2010 Barolo Cannubi is beautifully finessed and pure with etched aromas of cola, tar, pressed violets and balsam herb that are straight out of the Nebbiolo playbook. It shows power and extreme elegance in equal measure. Compared to the 2009 vintage that was lighter in the mouth, the 2010 edition is both generous and enduring. It shows the very best of Cannubi, the vineyard cru responsible for one of the most important interpretations of the mighty Nebbiolo grape variety. I look forward to revisiting this wine in ten years or more. Drink: 2017-2030. Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 94/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2010 Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra...$95.99 750ml

2010 Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra...$195.99 / Magnum
From 40-year-old vines that enjoy southern exposures, the 2010 Barolo Sori Ginestra is the estate’s most complete and powerful wine. You can tell that the wine is shaped by rich, compact soils similar to what is found in the Mosconi cru. Barolo Sori Ginestra is a generous, richly textured wine with juicy tannins and a succulent mouthfeel. The tannins are not aggressive, but they do leave their mark. Overall, the wine’s sugars, alcohol, fruit and acidity are expertly balanced. Drink: 2017-2033.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 94+/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2010 Pio Cesare Barolo...$69.99
The 2010 Barolo is a great fall back wine for those who want to know the flavor profile of a classic, well-made Barolo. This is a textbook wine, especially in the exceptional 2010 vintage. Black fruit and prune is folded together with delicate tones of cigar ash, crushed mineral, licorice, white truffle and dried raspberry. The tannins are firm, but polished and the wine leaves a lasting imprint of dark fruit and cola on the elegant finish. Drink: 2016-2028.

Stone / Beachwood / Heritic Unapologetic IPA...$8.49 / 22oz
When you get three hopheads together to collaborate on a beer, it’s only natural to expect some hopped up liquid incarnation of their lupulin lust to spring forth from such a session. Maybe it seems passé to some—three masters of hoppy beer once again exploring the familiar territory of the India pale ale. After all, who needs yet another IPA, double or otherwise, right? It’s all been done. To those who feel this way, this trio’s reply is: “so what?” In birthing a double IPA made bitter and fruity care of a mélange of new and experimental hops (Azacca, Belma, and yet-to-be-named varieties from Washington’s Yakima Valley), they aren’t staying in a comfort zone—they’re hitting a sweet spot in the name of all that is good, delicious, hoppy and forward-thinking to create an IPA that’s both like and unlike anything they, or you, have ever tasted. Rife with essence of pine, resin, and fruits both citrus and tropical, there’s no need for apologies with this beer. All that’s necessary is a yearning for hops, a sturdy constitution and an empty glass.

Stone Stochasticy Project Quadro Triticale...$7.49 / 22oz
STYLE: BELGIAN QUADRUPEL
rappist ales as we know them have a proud lineage dating back nearly a century. Rather than follow the footsteps of the monks who forged the quadrupel—the warmest and darkest of monastery offerings—we aimed to test its inherent makeup. In doing so, we added triticale, a hybrid grain combining the pleasant flavor of wheat with the elemental durability and spice of rye, to breathe new life into the malt bill. Because of this, this reimagined brew comes across differently than its classic Belgian predecessors, and beautifully so. Lower in sweetness, but rich with flavors mirroring dried fruit, it’s a modern interpretation of one of the most historically sacred styles on Earth.

Stone Brewing Collective Distortion IPA...$8.49 / 22oz
In bringing together artisans from disparate aural planes, one might expect an offbeat, feedback-warped cacophony, shrill to the point of unlistenable. Yet, by inviting Kyle Hollingsworth, keyboardist for eclectic, jam-prone sextet,The String Cheese Incident, and Keri Kelli, wailing rock guitarist of Alice Cooper fame, we were able to make truly beautiful music. Turns out, these musicians have a great deal in common, both with each other and with Stone. We all enjoy turning things up to 11, and that is represented in this collaborative offering, an imperial India pale ale ably backed by Nugget, Comet and Calypso hops, and amplified care of a healthy dry-hopping with Vic's Secret, a new Australian hop, adding citrus and tropical fruit oomph. To give this modern masterpiece some soulful, classic character, we traced the roots of brewing to the days when Old World herbs were used to spice beers, adding in coriander and, a first for us, elderberries. To stand up to that sumptuous spice and blaring bitterness, we added golden naked oats, which are lightly roasted and add body and enhanced mouthfeel to the brew like a steady, unbreakable backbeat to an incendiary jam solo. Sit back, crank the volume and get lost in this operatic incarnation of genres combined in the name of invention.

Stone Brewing Saison...$9.99 / 6pk
In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isn’t your everyday saison. It’s our saison—100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Stone Brewing Sprocket Bier...$7.49 / 22oz
Rick and Robbie’s Spröcketbier is the first ever winner of the Stone Spotlight Series brewing competition. A black rye Kölsch-style ale, it arose victorious over 18 other impressive entries ranging from barrel-aged stouts to fruit-laced sour beers and nearly everything in-between. A uniquely dark spin on this traditionally light-bodied German beer style, Spröcketbier delivers mild roast, effervescence and floral yeast presence in tremendously balanced form with the high level of drinkability that is the Kölsch style’s hallmark. Look for it on draft and in bottles in select markets throughout the country, along with the duo that created it, Quality Production Assurance Lead Rick Blankemeier and Production Warehouse Lead Robbie Chandler.

Stone Go to IPA...$9.99 / 6pk
Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we are embracing our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a "session" IPA delivering all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employed "hop bursting," a new technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to coax out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an Alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.

Clos del Rey

We are proud to introduce the amazing new wines to Missouri...

2010 Clos del Rey Le Sabina....$19.99
The Montagnes’ 2010 Cotes du Roussillon Sabina as usual showcases Grenache, though here the complimentary young-vines Syrah amounts to 30%. There is infectious juiciness and invigoration from seedy red and black raspberries – mingled with beet root and laced with a hint of horseradish for a borscht-like effect – in the context of formidable sheer intensity. But that is not to say that nuance is left behind. Iris and violet on the nose proceed to waft through the entire proceedings, while crushed stone and saline suffusions serve for counterpoint and saliva-liberation on a long, energetic and dynamic finish. This effusive and polished performance should remain captivating – not to mention offer outstanding value – through at least 2016.
Rated 91/100 The Wine Advocate

2009 Clos del Rey Clos del Rey....$44.99
60% Carignan and 40% Syrah

The depth of richness to the Montagnes’ 2009 Cotes du Roussillon Clos del Rey – only released in 2013, as they always practice long elevage followed by bottle-aging in their cellars – is predictable given the nature of that vintage and this father-son team’s track record. What takes me by delightful surprise are the fine grain to its abundant tannins and the lift and brightness as well as the counterpoint of mineral and fruit elements that are here allied to almost massive density and concentration. A pungent nose of poached cherries laced with licorice, rosemary, black pepper and a hint of vanilla leads to an expansive palate and a finish of tongue-tingling intensity, mouthwatering salinity, schist-licking stoniness, and peppery bite that vividly sets-off the plush, ripe, yet vibrant fruit. This beauty should prove worth following through at least 2025. And one again, incidentally, it illustrates the versatility and adaptability – to site, to style, and to one another – of the grapes grown in Roussillon, as here we have roughly 60% Carignan and the rest Syrah.

Gouden Carolus 2014

New Vintage...

Gouden Carolus Cuvee van de Keizer "Blue"..$10.99 / 750ml
2014 vintage is here!
"The unique brewing of the Cuvee Van De Keizer, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level of 11%, guarantees this beer to age excellently over several years time with a complexity and intensity usually reserved for the finest of wines. Attesting to the innate mystery and intensity of a cellarable beer is tis brew's beautiful ruby brown, almost henna color. With a light-brown, velvety head and sweet, powerful notes of wood, yeast, and plums, the Cuvee suprises one's palate with subtle hints of caramel and even fresh green apples. Drinking a Cuvee Van De Keizer is a fully sensory experience, so be certain to breathe in its fruity, almost delicate aroma that complements a richly roasted malted, yet softly dense body. It's a truly sugary brew in every sense, errin on the natural, fresh and refreshing side of sweetness." -- importer

Guigal Ex Voto Ermitage - rare release

2010 Guigal Ermitage Ex Voto Rouge...$579.99
Most likely just as good, with additional freshness and focus, the 2010 Ermitage Ex-Voto offers up an incredibly pure, fresh and nuanced bouquet of creme de cassis, licorice, crushed stone and spring flowers that flows to a full-bodied, detailed and yet gorgeously rich and textured palate. A serious barrel sample, with massive mid-palate depth and concentration, this beauty will require patience, yet should have an easy 3-4 decades of longevity.
Rated 96-99/100 The Wine Advocate

Guigal St. Joseph

2011 Guigal Saint Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge...$66.99
The 2011 Saint-Joseph, which comes all from the southern part of the appellation, is 100% Syrah that’s aged all in 2-year-old barrels. Classy all around, with notions of smoked blackberries, hung game, pepper and chocolate, it is complex and nuanced with a seamless, beautifully textured profile on the palate. Most likely an outstanding effort, it has loads of Northern Rhone character and should have a decade of longevity.
Rated 89-91/100 The Wine Advocate

2012 Guigal Saint Joseph Lieu Dit Blanc...$66.99
Even better and one thrilling white, the 2012 Saint Joseph Lieu-Dit Blanc, which comes from the vineyard that gave the appellation its name, is a smoking blend of 93% Marsanne and 7% Roussanne that’s brought up all in new oak barrels. Rich, textured and full-bodied, it oozes notions of caramelized peaches, toast, cream and brioche. It’s knockout stuff and should drink nicely for over a decade (although I’d drink it over the coming couple of years).
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate

2011 Guigal Saint Joseph Vinges de l'Hospice...$129.99
In keeping with my feeling that what was achieved in St.-Joseph in 2011 may equal the finest of 2010 is Guigal’s 2011 St.-Joseph Vignes de l’Hospice. Stunningly rich with lots of licorice, smoke, earth, camphor and incense characteristics, this full-bodied wine possesses abundant fruit on the front end and mid-palate as well as a soft, luxurious finish. It is a totally seductive wine that I could have happily drunk from barrel.
Rated 92-94/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2010 Guigal Cote Rotie Single Vineyards - potentially 3 perfect wines

These 3 could potentially all be perfect 100 point wines!
We got in 6 bottles of each, only 3 of each left.

2010 Guigal Cote Rotie La Landonne...$579.99
"...the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is a more fresh, pure and focused example of the 2009. While it doesn’t have the over the top exuberance of the prior vintage, it offers incredibly pure, detailed and classic aromas and flavors of black pepper, currants, blackberry, mineral and smoked bacon fat. Full-bodied, layered and deeply concentrated, yet also graceful and seamless, this knockout effort should require a decade to come around and have 3-4 decades of longevity."
Rated 98-100/100 The Wine Advocate

2010 Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline...$579.99
the 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline is certainly in the same league. More fresh and focused, with heavenly black raspberry, wild flower, underbrush, crushed rock-like minerality and hints of vanilla, it flows onto the palate with a seamless, pure silk texture that carries awesome concentration, ultra-fine tannin and incredible length. It will need more cellar time than the 2009, and have 2-3 decades of prime drinking.
Rated 98-100/100 The Wine Advocate

2010 Guigal Cote Rotie La Turque...$579.99
More fresh and pure, with knockout aromas and flavors of pepper, cassis, spice-box, coffee bean and edgy minerality, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Turque possesses spectacular purity, full-bodied power and a massive finish. Despite the slightly burly profile here, it stays seamless and elegant on the palate, with the overall purity, freshness and concentration of the vintage. Like the 2009, this blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier should start to shine around age 10 and have 3 decades of longevity.
Rated 98-100/100 The Wine Advocate

Old Dubh 21yr - limited release

Harviestoun Ola Dubh 21 year...$13.99 / 11oz
Aged in 21 Year Highland Park Casks

"Ola Dubh (or ‘Black Oil’) is a collaboration between Harviestoun Brewery and Highland Park, Distiller of the Year*. It is based on Harviestoun’s award-winning Old Engine Oil. With more than a stylistic nod to the classic Imperial Porters (and Stouts) of the nineteenth century, this deliciously rich, dark, 8% a.b.v. beer is the first ale to be aged in malt whisky casks from a named distillery and, with traceable casks and numbered bottles, the rest with genuine provenance. Ola Dubh will initially be available in three different expressions; the initial release will be of small batches aged in casks formerly used to mature Highland Park 12 Year Old, Highland Park 16 Year Old and Highland Park 30 Year Old. Further variants are planned for the future. Ola Dubh is, in the words of beer aficionado Owen D.L. Barstow: “The most interesting new British beer I have tried in years.” Retaining the appearance of used motor oil from which the beer gets its name, it is deep dark brown, dense and oily. On the nose there are notes of true oil and cocoa as well as faint smoke and heathery peat from the whisky casks. Although lighter in body that its appearance suggests, Ola Dubh is pithy, oily, salty and bitter on the palate. The finish is exceptional; burnt and bitter notes with an interplay of late hop characters, orange oil, fruity tartness and then delicate, fragrant smoke." -- importer

Perennial The Last Word

Perennial The Last Word...$10.99 / 750ml

Ale Brewed with Lemons and Cherries
The Last Word is a tart ale brewed with key lime, wintergreen, and wormwood, a nod to an illicit Prohibition-era tipple of the same name. Citrus and bright lactic acidity lead a pungent herbal character, all atop a subtle underlying malt sweetness. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at The Aviary in Chicago.

2010 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin...$199.99
(18 Magnums Available)
The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Chaupin rivals the 2007 Chaupin (to date the best Chaupin I have yet tasted). Made from 100% Grenache (3/4 destemmed), it boasts a dense black/purple color as well as unbelievable notes of raspberries, black cherries, licorice, truffles, camphor, forest floor and garrigue. This wine is stunningly concentrated, incredibly noble, precise and expansive on the palate with mouth-saturating intensity, glycerin and extract. It is an amazing example of impeccably grown old vine Grenache translated into a natural yet full-throttle red.

2011 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 750ml...On-Sale $89.99
And a candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is always a rough blend of 85% Grenache and the balance Syrah, Mourvedre, Clairette and other permitted varieties, that has the Grenache aged all in foudre and the Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one-third new barrels (that’s less than 6% of the blend in new barrels). Exhibiting gorgeous black fruits, spice-box, toast, licorice and roasted meat-like qualities on the nose, it is full-bodied, concentrated and layered on the palate, with loads of texture, yet delivers no weight, heat, or ever puts a foot wrong. Shockingly good in the vintage, it should not be missed. Hats off to Christophe and Isabelle. Drink now-2027.

Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso Matured

Glenlivet limited release....

Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso Matured...$76.99 / 750ml
Introducing Nadurra Oloroso
The Glenlivet Distillery is proud to reveal our newest release – a world exclusive for Guardians.  At The Glenlivet we believe that the craft of distilling is something to be preserved and passed on from generation to generation. It’s this respect for tradition, without being afraid to move with the times, that sets us apart from other single malts.  Nowhere is this more true that with Nàdurra – the purest expression of The Glenlivet.  The name Nàdurra – Gaelic for 'natural' – evokes the beauty and the purity of the Glen and the Distillery surroundings and is transferred to the spirit itself.   The Nàdurra 16 Year Old has long been a favourite with whisky connoisseurs. Non chill-filtered and bottled and cask strength, The Whisky Advocate even called it The Glenlivet “with pizzazz”.   So it was high time we took the principles of Nàdurra and combined them with the finest casks in the industry to create new, distinctive flavours that are unlike most modern whiskies.  The Purest Expression of a Great Tradition  Nàdurra Oloroso is the newest addition to the Nàdurra family. Like all Nàdurra whiskies, it’s crafted in small batches, each unique but of equally high quality.   Made using traditional production methods Nàdurra Oloroso is a nod to the whiskies of our heritage.  Once the new make spirit comes off the still, it’s placed into casks formerly used to make Oloroso Sherry sourced from the Jerez region of Spain.  These sherry casks have long been famed for imparting wonderfully rich, luxurious flavours of dried fruits and warm spices to single malt whisky, making them some of the most sought after casks used by whisky distillers.  This new addition to the range is the first time in living memory that a significant bottling of The Glenlivet has been matured solely in ex-sherry casks, so a real treat for the taste buds.  To maintain the purity of the product, Nàdurra whiskies are bottled without chill-filtration giving greater depth and impart a richer mouth feel.  Now for the important part, the tasting notes.   The Glenlivet Nàdurra Oloroso is bright gold in colour.  It’s full of the aromas of dried fruit, like raisins and apricots as well as the gentle notes of cinnamon and liquorice.  On the palate it’s smooth and creamy, with the fruitiness of spicy orange marmalade coupled with the sweetness of dark chocolate leading to a long, sweet finish with a slightly dry and spicy note.
Alan Winchester’s given it his seal of approval and Nàdurra Oloroso will be coming to an airport near you soon. We hope you enjoy…
Nàdurra - the purest expression of a great tradition

In the mid '90s, he was a summer student at the university program run by Crown Royal® where he studied with the guys who were, at the time, the four Master Blenders on staff at Crown Royal. Collectively, they had 120 years of experience! While he was there, it was time for one of them to move on from the company... creating a new spot. A spot that Andrew stepped right into.

The result is an exceptionally rich and smooth whisky highlighting an elegant complexity of light spice and dried fruit.

Crown Royal XR Blue....$124.99 / 750ml

Taste the latest in our Extra Rare Whisky Series, handcrafted with a unique blend that includes the final batch of whiskies from the renowned LaSalle distillery. Located on the island of Montreal, the LaSalle distillery produced whiskies with a unique richness, attributed to the fine water surrounding the island. The resulting whiskies were full-bodied and exceptionally smooth.
Experience its sophisticated blend of dried fruits and honey in a harmonious balance with spicy notes of Canadian rye, finishing in a lovely, round taste of raisins, cocoa and brown sugar.

Crown Royal XR Release #2 (LaSalle)
"This is the second release of Crown Royal XR. This one contains whisky from the old LaSalle distillery. (The first release contained whisky from the Waterloo distillery.) I like this whisky a lot. It’s nicely matured, very smooth and balanced, and dangerously drinkable. And it’s superior to the first release, which I felt showed too much wood for balance–especially on the finish. ($130)" -- Whiskey Advocate Blog

Brancaia - 94 point super Tuscan

2010 Brancaia Maremma Toscana Ilatraia...$41.99
This is pure and oh-so-silky, featuring flavors of black currant, violet and sweet spice, with a hint of tobacco. The supple texture is offset by refined tannins as this cruises to a long aftertaste of black currant and spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2014 through 2024. –BS
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator
Rated 93/100 The Wine Advocate

2012 Bergstrom

2012 Bergstrom Pinot Noir "Bergstrom Vineyard"...$69.99
Vivid ruby. Intensely perfumed dark berry, Indian spice and potpourri scents are lifted by a smoky mineral quality. Sweet, deeply pitched black raspberry and cherry cola flavors are given lift and cut by juicy acidity and pick up a rose pastille quality with air. At once rich and lively, finishing with superb clarity, palate-staining length and harmonious tannins.

Skyy Vodka on sale now!

Skyy Vodka....$18.99 / 1.75 liter
We couldn't find a smooth vodka.
So, we invented one.

SKYY began in 1992 the same way as most things in San Francisco — a tiny startup based on the vision of one entrepreneur and his dream to make something better. In this case, exceptionally smooth vodka. It was this exceptional smoothness that has made SKYY the leading domestic premium vodka in the U.S. But we're not stopping there. From new products and cocktails to the latest happenings, check out our social media section to see what's fresh.
Our process. Otherwise known as: science.
SKYY Vodka starts with the finest American grains, goes through a state-of-the-art quadruple distillation process designed to eliminate anything extra standing between you and a fresh, clean cocktail, and ends with an innovative triple filtration process using real California limestone. We're dropping a lot of science here, but when you have our vodka, you know that it all adds up to smooth taste.
