Known by many as 'The Queen of the Douro', the property's magnificent house, chapel, and winery were built in 1827 – almost two centuries ago – and Vesúvio’s vineyards have been considered among the most important in the Douro throughout its long history. Forged by one of the most famous women of Porto, Dona Antonia Ferriera, this historic property in the hot and dry upper Douro produces phenomenal wines that tend toward richness and intensity while maintaining elegance. 

Since its inception in the 19th century, Quinta do Vesúvio has been recognized for producing outstanding wines with unique character and ageing capacity. This unwavering focus on quality is still the cornerstone of our approach to winemaking today. To this day, all the Vintage Ports are still made in the original winery using traditional foot treading.

Densely packed, with lots of warmed fig, mulled blueberry, açai berry and blackberry paste flavors rolling through, scored with graphite and tar notes, carrying through a finish that has a smoldering feel. The 2017 Vintage Port is a blend of 33% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 15% Sousão and 12% Alicante Bouschet, plus miscellaneous others filling out the blend. This was bottled about a month before tasting after 18 months in seasoned vats, but the just-bottled sample was not really ready. This was instead a pre-bottling sample.
