2019 Domaine Clape Saint Peray Blanc....$85.99
The 2019 Saint-Péray is a richer, almost full-bodied white offering lots of white peach and stone fruit notes as well as hints of honeysuckle, spice, and toast. It picks up a riveting sense of salinity and minerality on the palate and has terrific balance and a great finish. It’s well worth seeking out and possibly the finest white I’ve tasted from this estate.
Rated 94/100 Jeb Dunnuck
The domaine's rarely seen 2019 Saint Peray comes from a single hectare of vines, planted to 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne. Notes of beeswax, honey and cinnamon appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is plush and fleshy, yet finishes long and crisp, with notes of apple and pear. Drink it on the young side.

2020 Domaine Clape Saint Peray Blanc....$85.99
So much candied-citrus character on the nose and on the rich, creamy palate. Surprising freshness lifts the full body and gives the nutty finish considerable length and mineral energy. From one hectare, planted with 80% marsanne and 20% roussanne. Drink or hold.
Rated 94/100 James Suckling
Starts soft and gentle, then the sparkling, bright acidity spreads over the palate. Great purity, balance and roundness; very satisfying. A mix of 60-year-old and seven-year-old vines, vinified in oak.

2021 Domaine Clape Saint Peray Blanc....$85.99

An aromatic and delicate nose of white peaches, flowers, anise and hints of flower honey. Medium body with sharp and precise acidity. It’s very mineral with great tension. Round-textured with volume and harmony. It’s creamy at the edges, crisp and vertical at the center, with a long, peppery finish. Granite soils. 80% marsanne and 20% roussanne. Drink or hold.
Rated 95/100 James Suckling

Domaine Auguste Clape, a legendary name in the northern Rhône Valley, also produces St-Péray white wines, although they are better known for their iconic Cornas Syrah reds. The St-Péray wines from Clape are highly regarded but produced in limited quantities, making them a hidden gem for white wine enthusiasts.

Fun facts about St. Peray
  • Blend of Marsanne and Roussanne grape
  • Only white wine is made in St. Peray
  • St-Péray is an appellation in the northern Rhône Valley of France.
  • High-quality St-Péray whites like Domaine Clape's can age gracefully, developing complex notes of honey, nuts, and dried fruits over time
  • St-Péray is one of the smallest appellations in the Rhône Valley, making its wines relatively rare and sought-after by wine enthusiasts.
