Whiskey Dave's Favorite Holiday Buys under $55

Lots of great whiskeys out there especially in the $55 and under price range, Here are multiple whiskies that I’m a fan of and don’t necessarily get the love from Whiskey blogs or they just fly under the radar. I’m an equal opportunity drinker so when I find great value and flavor, I will prattle on and on about them. As anyone, especially Mrs. Whiskey Dave knows, two of my favorite words are “good” and “cheap”.

AMERICAN WHISKEY

Silver Springs Sweet Rye Whiskey....$32.99
Proof 110.99
Distilled in Kentucky
Mashbill: 65% Rye * 15% Corn * 20% Malted Barley
I know you're asking… Whiskey Dave, what's a sweet rye? There is no official definition for a "sweet rye". the mash is heavier on the corn and malted barley so it has a bit less upfront spiciness. My current fave Cocktail rye...ridiculous value, 3 plus year Single Barrel Rye? Heck yeah!!
Redwood Lost Monarch Straight Whiskey 45% abv...$32.99
A blend of 4 to 12-year-old Bourbon & 3 to 5-year-old Rye
NOSE:
Complex, with clove, cinnamon, vanilla, orange citrus zest and butterscotch notes, and an intriguing hint of sandalwood.
PALATE:
Sweetness from corn and spiciness from rye combine with an almost maple syrup like flavor. Vanilla and caramel notes lead to a persistent, yet subdued peppery finish.
Green River Kentucky Wheated Bourbon...$32.99. 90 proof
Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon leads with a beautiful peach and caramel aroma coupled with apricot and cinnamon. Bursting with flavor, on the palate you’ll find toffee, pastry and hazelnut that guide toward a honeyed finish that’s smooth and balanced. A wonderful take on a classic Kentucky mashbill of 70% Kentucky-grown corn, 21% wheat, and 9% malted barley, the wheated expression lends itself to easy drinking while holding its own distinct character.
Nobletons Copper Dome Whiskey...$42.99
7 year old Wheated Whiskey!
All Missouri grown!
Tasting notes; raisins, baking spices, roasted toffee resting upon the age old practices passed down from generation to generation. This preprohibition farm style whiskey is made from a 70% sweet corn, 25% honey wheat, and 5% malted barley.
