Thanksgiving Wines

Thanksgiving Wines
Get ready for Thursday, November 23rd

Thanksgiving is one of the best wine Holidays, with so many flavors and dishes on the table you can really drink whatever you like and it's bound to go perfectly with something on the table. There is no perfect Thanksgiving wine, because really the perfect Thanksgiving wine is the one you want to drink the most. If you like a big Cabernet or a big rich Chardonnay - drink those! If you do not like Pinot Noir, you will still not like it with Thanksgiving.
Drink what you like!

We have come up with a few suggestions from our locations to help guide you.  Come in to our stores and talk to our experts!

Sparkling!!
Imaginarium Blanc de Blanc NV...$22.99
Not only is sparkling wine inherently festive and celebratory, it’s also very food friendly and a great palate cleanser in between dishes varying in flavors and texture. Imaginarium is made in the same traditional method as Champagne, and at a fraction of the price it’s hard to find a better deal.

Great Pinot Noir is Thanksgiving tradition!
2022 Theodore Rex Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast.....$29.99
A collaboration between famed winemaker (and friend of the store) Adam Lee, The Wine and Cheese Place, and Olive + Oak.
Only five barrels produced!!
"This wine is a prime example of an outstanding Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Demonstrating dried herb notes, along with a mix of bright red fruit flavors and some deeper, darker notes, it lingers on the palate with just enough crisp acidity to make you want another glass."
-Adam Lee, Winemaker

Cotes du Rhone another great choice!
2020 Le Grand Valmal Cotes du Rhone Villages Vieilles Vignes...$17.99
60% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre
This Rhone is the real deal and a sensational value!
Could easily be confused for a Chateauneuf do Pape. Floral notes accent fresh mixed berries in this 2020 Cotes du Rhone Villages that is made from Old Vine Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. The Syrah dominates and leads to a full-bodied wine but with silky tannins. It has a slight pepperiness to add some dimension and complexity. This wine is produced by the third generation on this estate and it is a fruit driven Cotes du Rhone with great roundness and complexity.

Grenache is also a great grape for Thanksgiving!
2021 Thistledown Grenache McLaren Vale Thorny Devil...$27.99
Aromas of savory spice, hung deli meat and blood fill the senses, but it is in the mouth where the purity and succulence of the fruit is revealed. This 2021 Thorny Devil Grenache is long and savory, sweet and fine, built into a framework of pliable tannin and exotic spice. Balanced and exciting.

Shiraz has the fruit and richness to pair perfectly!
2019 Greenock Creek Barossa Shiraz....$29.99
This 2019 Shiraz from Greenock Creek is a dark, brooding, concentrated, savory Shiraz, punctuated by notes of resin, molasses, licorice, aniseed, dark chocolate and black tea. There is plenty to grip to here: oak, tannin, fruit... This is a big wine and one that has built a big name. This is best drunk within the decade—to capture some of the fruit while it is lively, I should think.

Yes, you can do Cabernet with Thanksgiving! You need a rich one with low tannins
from Alexander Valley! and only $22.99

2020 Bound Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon...$22.99
Aged in 75% French Oak and 25% American Oak for 10 months
Bound Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium body Cabernet with great fruit flavors and smooth structured tannins. It has aromas of black cherry, Cassis berries, plum, slight blueberry, vanilla, oak and chocolate. It is a fruit forward wine with lush flavors, nice balance and a long silky finish.

The fruit and spice of Zinfandel helps elevate the flavors of Turkey!
2021 Hierogram Lodi Zinfandel...$14.99

Concentrated and complex, this full-bodied wine overflows with ripe berries, black-pepper and beef aromas that continue in the generous flavors. A big broad mouthfeel, full body and mild tannins all add to an impression of richness.
Rated 90/100 The Wine Enthusiast

Rose wine does an amazing job with Thanksgiving - perfect body and acidity!
This one is one of the best!
2022 HB-Chevalier Rosé Côtes de Thau...$16.99
100% Grenache
HB Rosé comes from vineyards planted on clay and limestone hillsides called "costières" bordering the Etang de Thau. This coastal lagoon is situated between the port of Sète and Cap d’Agde.
Limpid and shiny colored wine with a beautiful bright salmon pink hue. Possessing a very expressive, charming and complex bouquet, the wine offers intense notes of ripe citrus and fruit candies. The palate is balanced, delicate, fresh, generous and ample, developing beautiful aromas of small red fruits (strawberry, red currants) and a long lasting mouthfeel balanced between roundness and freshness.
