2021 J. Lohr Chardonnay Arroyo Seco....$12.99
The 35th vintage of this beloved wine showcases how cool-climate Monterey specifically Arroyo Seco packs charm, elegance, texture, and balance into Chardonnay. Of course, the talented hands of winemaker Kristen Barnhisel had an impact. as malolactic fermentation and sur lie aging have added to the wine's innate richness. Striking scents of lemon meringue, creamed corn, and yellow flowers emerge effortlessly. Acidity waves its wand on the palate, lending crystal-clear focus and casting a textural spell with mouthwatering notes of summer peach, lime, and kiwi. The finish of candied yam and mandarin orange peel is exotic.

Rich and dense on the nose, this affordably priced, widely available bottling offers aromas of roasted berry, mesquite, cracked pepper and iodine. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc grapes in this wine were grown in gravelly, lime-laden soils at an elevation of 1,700 feet. Once drawn in by its immediate perfume of dark chocolate and blueberry preserves as well as its silky, plush, mouth-coating texture, you're treated to waves of milk chocolate-covered boysenberry. Nutmeg-dusted cedar and dried violets flash across the palate, leaving behind a slightly chalky finish.
