Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot
Fontana’s old-vine Merlot (36 years old!) are thriving where others are struggling and exquisitely expressing their character, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc flesh out into a champion bottle with violet aromas and a rich palate ripe red and blueberries, spice, and earth.
Deep and dark red color. On the nose, the Merlot brings nice small red berry flavors while the Cabernet Sauvignon offers a hint of spice and herbs. Slight toasted notes of the nose are confirmed on the palate with nice rounded tannins. This is a full bodied wine with plenty of freshness and a long finish.
Pair this with any red meat, nice steak wine!
Founded in 1950, Fontana family vineyards are today managed by Mr Fontana’s four sons. The vineyards are situated on the hills of Gensac with Southern exposure. The soil is composed of limestone and clay up to 110 meters above sea level and the sunshine gives the grapes great exposure resulting in ripe flavored fruit, typical of great Bordeaux
