Domaine Saint Prefert Cuvee Speciale Vieilles Clairettes

Only produced in MAGNUMS!
SUPER LIMITED - 133 cases made and  26 cases imported
We do not deal with "grey market wines".  We acquire all of our St. Prefert  through the U.S. importer. Be careful about grey market versions of this wine and other St. Prefert wines. You do not know how it is stored if it comes to the U.S. through non proper channels.
"In the wine trade, grey marketing is the process of securing wine from any source other than the registered/established U.S. importer. Most grey market goods are purchased directly from European retailers or importers, behind the back of the registered U.S. import agent.".  Grey market wines are usually cheaper price but you do not know the providence and how they were stored and shipped.

2017 Domaine Saint Prefert Cuvee Speciale Vieilles Clairettes...$329.99 / 1.5ltr (magnum)
A beauty, with macadamia nut, brioche, lemon curd and creamed Jonagold apple notes providing the fat, while pink grapefruit zest, verbena, chamomile and quinine details serve as a perfectly bracing counterpoint. Everything knits seamlessly through the very long, pure and creamy finish. Drink now through 2030. 133 cases made, 26 cases imported

Now that it's in the bottle, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvee Speciale continues to impress. Gentle toast and honey notes accent white peaches in a wine that really does resemble a top white Burgundy. Yes, it's a bit fuller-bodied and more flavorful than most, but then it finishes long and crisp. Wow!

I was able to taste two barrels of the 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Clairette Vieilles Vignes, both showing different profiles, one richer and fatter, the other fresher and more focused. Both had classic honeyed citrus and mineral aromas and flavors, some oak to integrate, terrific concentration, and a big finish. It's going to unquestionably be another great vintage for this cuvée, and there are few whites out there that can pull off this rich, concentrated, yet vibrant and complex style so well. Don’t miss it.
