2016 Finca Beth • 2km Malbec Cabernet Franc...$23.99
Suggested retail is $35
65% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Franc.
Sustainable Non-Certified
Less than 600 cases bottledNow that the range has grown, the name of the original wine has been extended from simply 2km to 2016 2km Malbec Cabernet Franc, a blend of 65% Malbec with 35% Cabernet Franc. The two grapes fermented together in concrete eggs. Part of the wine matured in 500-liter oak barrels and the rest in 225-liter barriques for some 14 months. The style, source and process have not changed since the initial 2013 vintage. There's something earthy, floral (violets) and notes of wild berries and herbs. The palate reveals the signature chalky tannins from the limestone-rich soils from Altamira and that special tastiness and mouthfeel. 6,500 bottles were filled in August 2017.
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate
The 2016 Cabernet Franc Malbec Paraje Altamira is a co-fermented blend of 65% Malbec and 35% Cabernet Franc aged in a mix of new 500-Liter and used 225-liter barrels. It offers a complex bouquet of black raspberries, currants, peppery herbs and crushed violets in a medium-bodied, juicy, elegant style. With terrific balance, lively acidity and a clean, slightly old-school feel, it's going to drink nicely over the coming 7-8 years.

2km is a collaborative effort between the team at Finca Beth and winemaker Juan Pablo Michelini. Named after the 2 kilometer long vineyard where the fruit is sourced, it is a wine of exceptional balance and purity, with floral and mineral qualities that speak directly to its origin high in wilderness of Paraje Altamira, in Mendoza’s Uco Valley.
