Domaine La Manarine

Having worked with the Domaine Mararine Cotes du Rhone for a number of years now, we are very excited to offer their second vintage of Chateauneuf Du Pape. Only 5 cases came to Missouri and we bought them all. A great wine and an amazing price!

2018 Domaine La Manarine Cotes du Rhone Rouge...$15.99
The standard bearer of the domaine is the Côtes du Rhône Rouge produced from the younger (but not young) vines (average 35 years old) of the estate. This wine is 100% Grenache and produces a classically spicy, full-bodied wine that speaks clearly of the “garrigue” of the region. The grapes are destemmed before the fermentation and the cuvaison is on the order of three weeks duration. The wine is bottled without filtration after twenty to twenty-four months of “elevage”. The Manarine Cotes du Rhone is our essential wine in this category. Organic.

2016 Domaine La Manarine Chateauneuf du Pape....$45.99
Only the second vintage produced, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Pied de Baud was still in tank when I tasted it in June. It's 100% Grenache, with delicate black tea, rose petal and raspberry aromas that are almost Burgundian. Yet it's full-bodied and concentrated, delivering red berries and complex, minty notes on the palate. I love the style proprietor Gilles Gasq (former cellar assistant at Monpertuis) has achieved from this micro parcel (1.5 hectares) in Chateauneuf du Pape.
