Very limited Cote Rotie!

Northern Rhone Rarities from Rosenthal Imports
The 2016 Vintage marks our second year working with Xavier Gerard's Cote Rotie and first time ever having Bernard Levet's (now Famille Levet as his daughter Agnes has taken over) Cote Rotie Chavaroche on the shelf. While Cote Rotie, the Roasted Slope, often produces wines of a massive scale, these two producers are focused on the purity of their fruit and elegance over power. Don't miss a chance to try a couple of Cote Rotie's most sought after and elegant wines.

2016 Xavier Gerard Cote Rotie....$69.99
Deep bright-hued magenta. Mineral-accented blackberry, cherry, olive paste and violet aromas pick up mineral and smoked meat flourishes as the wine opens up. Shows very good energy on the palate, offering sappy, spice-tinged black and blue fruit flavors and hints of floral pastilles, licorice and cracked pepper. The floral note carries through a youthfully chewy and persistent finish, which leaves a vibrant mineral note behind.
Rated 93/100 Vinous Media
The Côte-Rôtie is a blend of Mollard (near the Côte-Blonde), La Viallière, La Brosse and La Landonne.

2016 Famille Levet Cote Rotie Chavaroche...$79.99
(we have a single magnum as well $179.99)
Small production - only 200 cases made
Dark purple. Smoke- and spice-accented dark berry, cherry liqueur and cured meat scents show excellent clarity and a building floral topnote. Concentrated but energetic blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors pick up candied violet and olive notes on the back half. In a distinctly old-school style but not at all rustic. Finishes chewy, sweet and extremely long, with steadily building tannins adding shape and youthful grip.
Rated 95/100 Vinous Media
