Black Slate Gratallops Vi De La Vila Priorat

I have been buying and selling wine for over 20 years and I still get excited when we have a great wine coming in the next day. Sometimes I super excited about 2 bottles of a rare Burgundy and sometimes it's 10 cases of an amazing Spanish Red that I have had on order for months. This week it happens to be both, but since we only have two bottles of the Burgundy we will focus on the Spanish Red. The 2017 Priorat Black Slate Gratallops Vi De La Vila comes from the same vineyard as the iconic Clos Erasmus, but thankfully is only 1/10 the price. This is simply one of the best wines you can buy for under $20.

2017 Black Slate Gratallops Vi De La Vila Priorat...$18.99
The 2017 Black Slate Gratallops Vi De La Vila comes from a warmer region in the Priorat and has a more powerful, ripe, opulent style compared to the Porrera cuvĂ©e, which comes from a cooler region. A huge nose of mulled cherries, dried earth, spice, and dusty pebble-like minerality gives way to a medium to full-bodied Priorat that has ripe tannins, an opulent, sexy texture, and a great finish. It’s another wine from Solomon that has classic Priorat character, is impeccably balanced, and drinks way above its humble price point. Don’t miss it! The blend is 58% Grenache, 32% Carignan, and 10% Syrah, aged 12 months in 20% new French oak.
