Agostino Familia

Agostino Familia has fast become one of our favorite wineries!
This is only our second vintage with them!  The wines are not cheap, but they are still fantastic values.  They taste like they should be twice the price!
This wine competes with top White Bordeaux wines!
New vintage just arrived!

2015 Agostino Familia Semillon / Sauvignon...$25.99
The four Agostino brothers, Vincenzo, Rosalía, Sebastian and Miguel, lived their childhoods in Mendoza before resettling in Canada in the 1960s. They returned to Mendoza and founded the Finca Agostino estate in 2003, the first step in fulfilling their long-held dream of getting back to their roots and producing benchmark Argentine wines.
Tasting Notes: This brilliant Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc offers a panoply of tropical fruit, honeysuckle and figgy pudding mingling playfully with vanilla notes from top quality small oak barrels. Bracing yet lush.
Serve With: Excellent with rich, complex white meat, seafood, or creamy pasta dishes.

Review of the last vintage (no review of 2015 yet)
2014 Agostino Familia Semillon / Sauvignon
The 2014 Semillon - Sauvignon Blanc is another brilliant white blend that does everything right. Caramelized citrus, white grapefruit, spice, and brioche notes all emerge from this deep, rich, pure 2014. It has an awesome texture, integrated acidity, and a blockbuster finish, and it’s a seriously good Bordeaux Blanc blend (it’s 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon) that should be snatched up by readers.

2013 Agostino Familia de la Cava...$39.99
Made from 50% Malbec and 25% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20 months in 70% new French and American oak, the 2013 De La Cava is straight up terrific, and one of the standouts in this report. Crème de cassis, licorice, smoked herbs and graphite all give way to a full-bodied, concentrated, voluptuous, yet incredibly well balanced 2013 that has a stacked mid-palate, ripe, sweet tannin and a great finish. This down right tour de force is a smoking value, even at over 40 dollars.
