2016 Chateuneuf du Pape

We are thrilled about the arrival of our first batch of 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape. Importer Eric Solomon is a great source for exciting wines from all over the world but truly shines when it comes to his Southern Rhone portfolio. All of these wines are in stock, though quantities are small so order away!

2016 Janasse

2016 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape....$52.99

Incorporating 10% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre, the Grenache-dominated 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (there's a touch of Cinsault) sports a saturated ruby/purple color. It shows hints of new oak in its black raspberries, blackberry, cured meats, crushed violets and spice-driven aromatics. This gives way to a rich, incredibly concentrated base cuvée that could easily be mistaken for the Vieille Vignes from another good year. Polished, concentrated and young, it's going to need bottle age.

2016 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin....$74.99
Made with close to 50% stems (the highest in a while) and brought up in foudre and demi-muids (20% new), the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Chaupin sports deep ruby/purple color as well as sensational notes of kirsch liqueur, black raspberries, crushed flowers, crushed rocks, and incense. Just a huge, rich, unctuous wine, it offers everything you could want from Grenache and is certainly going to challenge the 2007 and 2010 as the greatest expression of this terroir to date.

2016 Domaine Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape Grenache de Perriers....$102.99
Offers a gorgeous core, featuring flavors that show the distilled essence of raspberry and plum fruit. Seamless and pure, with a seductive mouthfeel despite the obvious weight and density. Flashes of anise, black tea and warm stone flitter through the refined and mouthwatering finish. So seductive, this is drinkable now. But just wait… Best from 2020 through 2050. 100 cases made.

2016 Giraud

2016 Domaine Giraud Chateauneuf Du Pape....$48.99
Enticing, with bright, engaging raspberry, cherry and red currant fruit infused with gently roasted sandalwood and apple wood, garrigue and licorice root notes. A swath of tobacco underscores the finish, giving this an old-school hint. Best from 2020 through 2040. 2,500 cases
Rated 95/100 The Wine Spectator
