2015 Comte Vogue Release

2015 Comte Vogue Release
We cannot say enough about the brilliance of the 2015 Vintage in Burgundy, particularily the Cote de Nuits Reds. While the quantities are of course tiny, the quality is off the charts.

You know when  it is in wood, it has to be good!!

2015 Comte de Vogue Musigny VV....$669.99
The 2015 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is initially more introspective compared to the Bonnes-Mares. Predominantly black fruit here with blueberry developing in the glass, there is a slight earthiness in character that shimmies towards floral scents as it opens. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and more salinity than then Bonnes Mares or the Chambolle-Musigny les Amoureuses. It feels crunchy and fresh in the mouth with plenty of blueberry and blackberry towards the long and persistent finish. This is an outstanding Musigny Vieilles Vignes of substance that will age over 30-40 years.

2015 Comte de Vogue Bonnes-Mares....$533.99
Full ruby-red. Intense aromas of blueberry liqueur and chocolate mint; this smells thick and deep in a way that reminded me of the estate's 1990 version at the same stage. Densely packed and very ripe, with a chocolatey quality leavened by strong acidity and complex menthol and herb terroir nuances. Conveys a strong impression of sucrosité without loss of freshness. The big, tongue-coating tannins arrive late, allowing the blueberry and blackberry fruit to mount on the aftertaste.

2015 Comte de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny....$169.99
The 2015 Chambolle Musigny Village has a clean, pure and fragrant bouquet with hints of iodine tinging the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is fresh and ripe on the entry with a touch more black fruit than red, a "solid" Chambolle in terms of density with a gentle grip on the finish. It needs more time in barrel and bottle to evolve its personality, but the key components are here.

2015 Comte de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru....$266.99
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has a more floral bouquet compared to the village cru, here the fruit leaning more towards the red side of the spectrum, beautifully defined and showing impressively. The palate is silky smooth on the entry with fine tannin, quite vivid in the mouth with that blood orange note mixed with spice towards the energetic finish. At this stage, there appears to be considerable distance between the village and premier crus, and it will be interesting to see if this remains after bottling.
