Sparkman from Washington

2013 Sparkman Wilderness Columbia Red...$24.99
This wine is mostly Syrah (58%), Grenache (18%) and Petite Sirah, with small amounts of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao and Tinta Madeira rounding it out. It brings aromas of dried herb, earth and blue and black fruit that are followed by palate-coating blue-fruit flavors, speckled with barrel spices, showing vibrant acidity.

2012 Sparkman Rainmaker Cabernet Sauvignon...$59.99
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rainmaker, which incorporates 9% Malbec, saw just one racking during its 22 months stint in 72% new barrels. Coming all from the Olsen Vineyard and harvest mostly toward the end of October, it offers lively, fresh, yet full-bodied, aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, charcoal, graphite and smoked herbs. Balanced, elegant and classically styled, with notable, yet integrated acidity and fine tannin, give it a few years and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.
Rated 91/100 The Wine Advocate
