Hirsch 20 year old is back!

Our local distributor was able to score a few case of this limited edition 20 Year old Hirsch that was distilled back in 1987
We have not seen this one in over 6 years.
Hirsch Selection Special Reserve 20 Year Old American Whiskey....$132.99

Hirsch Selection represents a hand-picked series of single barrel whiskies chosen expressly for connoisseurs of small batch fine spirits. This spectacular 20 year-old Illinois Whiskey is truly worthy of the Hirsch Selection name. This American Whiskey was distilled from Bourbon Mash and left to age in used cooperage (oak barrels previously used for maturing spirits), a production totaling 120 casks, too few to support a standard bottling. No one could foresee when the whiskey was stowed away on February 27, 1987, that these secreted casks in Illinois would turn out to be this classic American treasure some two decades later. Preiss Imports is proud to add Hirsch Selection 20 Year-Old American Whiskey alongside its ancestors and contemporaries: the Hirsch 16 Year-Old Bourbon and 25 Year-Old Kentucky Rye. Be sure to keep a bottle with your collection of exceptional spirits. -- back label

Hi
So was it bottled in 2007? Why is it just showing up 10 years later? Just curious what I'm buying.

from what I am told, it was sitting at a distributor somewhere in the North East. Somehow our local distributor was able to acquire it. I think they got in about 20 cases of it here in Missouri.

Thanks for the info! Will you keep the blog up to date on the quantity sells? Not like a daily countdown. Or do you think it will be around for a week.

You should be ashamed of yourself. This is absolutely overpriced. Since its on the blog I'm guessing the good old boys didn't want it. Stop making unexperienced drinkers think this is a good deal. Is it a bogo

We have 7 bottles left now this morning. Not sure yet if the distributor will sell me more or not. I have not put it in an email yet, that will be tomorrow. You never know what kind of response you get.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion. We have some very intelligent customers and they can make the decision on their own. Just because it is not for you, others have been very excited about it. In fact, I think we have some of the best whiskey experts as customers. We did not offer it out to the WRC (I am guessing that is what you are referring to), just posted it on the blog for everyone. To you it may be overpriced, to many it is not.

You're doing just fine Paul!

I do plenty of research myself and I'd never use the website you suggested to gauge a whiskey price. If you follow the market then you should be skeptical about this product. Paul knows, when all else fails the put it on the wrc.
I know the customers are some of the more educated because we have to be in order to pay fair market value.
Make no mistake, I'm not slamming Paul. I know he does a good job.
It's a buyers market right now.

I travel all over and stop in every liquor store. 2 weeks ago I was in Carolina. They had a shelf full of E T Lee for the same price. As a matter of fact I showed him how cheap TWCP sells it. I was showing off that St. Louis gets good products and sells it for a fair price.
My problem is this whiskey has been bottled 10 years. I'm pretty sure it wasn't in a Scottish cellar.

It's ok that most whiskies are spoken for before u get them. For me it would be no fun to just get handed anything I want. I like chasing it down but I sometimes get mad when we get offered the left over. The left overs are pretty good though. I still buy most everything from TWCP so it's only my opinion. I could pester everyone in your place and beg for a bottle of some low tier allocated whiskey. I think you have enough of those. I like to share and open people's minds who just drink off the bottle shelf. You need to promote the young man out in ladue. He's really versed in whiskey and may do good at the mothership. Nothing against the mothership crew but they lack in whiskey ( bourbon, American, rye). They are great with beer and scotch, I don't drink/buy wine but I've had ..... Help me. You don't have to post this. I'm not friend with the young tall guy but him and mark are good. I've walked out of a few stores because they had know idea.
With the alcohol boom, it would be nice to talk with someone who can really talk the talk. I always attribute it to wages and this goes across the whole service industry. Learn the products your selling. I have a job that I'm pretty good at because I seek more information and keep up to date. I know it's hard to learn cheese, beer ( that alone is a monster) and spirits. It's pretty bad when I know there job better than they do. That's it! I will leave you alone.
I love TWCP but hate the politics the industry has. I'd just like to get a bottle of something that is truly good at the price point. I can't tell you the last time that I've seen W L 12. I have s bottle but get them to sell you a barrel please or 107.

We did sell out of the 12 bottles he received. We are still trying to find out if we will get more next week.

H. Dom, Seattle, WA:

I've been a TWCP loyal customer for a few years now and I gotta admit, they do have the best prices in the country. I have a few places to go to and TWCP is one of my top three. Keep up the good work of offering good selections throughout the year.

Buyers that complained about TWCP's prices should check out Casker.

By the way, are the two Hirsch coming? :)

H. Dom,
Thank you. Which two Hirsch are you referring to?
