2013 Faiveley

2013 Domaine Faiveley Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru "Les Ouvrées Rodin"...$799.99

Wonderfully scented, almost Musigny-like aromas of black cherry, licorice, violet and minerals. Boasts outstanding sappy energy and definition, with the dark berry flavors energized by piquant minerality and salty traces. These vines are actually on the Chambertin side of Clos de Bèze but the wine is less powerful than the estate's other Clos de Bèze, notes Hervet. The endless perfumed finish excites the taste buds. Just five barrels made.

2013 Domaine Faiveley Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses...$278.99

Bright medium red. Reticent, reduced nose. Densely packed and tightly wound initially, then opened with air to reveal seductive flavors of strawberry, raspberry, truffle and minerals lifted by a floral element. Wonderfully pure, velvety Amoureuses, with a sweet, slowly mounting finish displayig outstanding mineral energy.

2013 Domaine Faiveley Corton Clos Des Corton...$199.99

Dark red. Musky aromas of wild game and white pepper. Markedly less fruity than the top Côte de Nuits grand crus that preceded it, but boasts outstanding sappy energy and soil-driven salinity. Extremely closed today, with its tight tannic spine showing a slightly raw quality that will require long-term bottle aging.

2013 Domaine Faiveley Nuits St Georges Les St Georges...$152.99
Good deep red. Captivating perfume of red berries, tobacco, spices and minerals. Large-scaled, silky and voluptuous, boasting compelling sweetness to its flavors of red fruits, iron, coffee, tobacco, spices and game. Wonderfully sexy, pliant wine with noble tannins and terrific finishing perfume.

2013 Domaine Faiveley Nuits St Georges Porrets St Georges...$89.99

As it virtually always is this is bigger, richer and more powerful with fine mid-palate concentration that helps to buffer the slightly firmer and more rustic tannins on the impressively complex and persistent finish. This is very Nuits in character and will need 10 to 12 years to arrive at its apogee.
Rated 90-92/100 Burghound

2013 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey Chambertin Clos Des Issarts...$107.99
Bright, deep red. Aromas of raspberry, wild rose, hawthorn, truffle and spices. Wonderfully light on its feet, with penetrating minerality and floral character currently overshadowing the underlying red berry flavors. This highly distinctive wine is intense, juicy and quite sophisticated, finishing with suave tannins and terrific grip.
Rated 91-93/100 Burghound
