Brouwerij Het Alternatief

Available online along with other beers from 12 Percent Imports

Brouwerij Het Alternatief
Izegem. West Flanders, Belgium
The Alternative. Exactly the goal of (master) hobby brewer Piet Salomez. We first experienced Piet’s beers at our favorite place to drink beer in Belgium – 't Kroegske – a tiny, homey place run by a husband and wife team (yes, we work with a lot of those) on the weekends with a sizeable beer list devoted to high quality, interesting stuff. A perfect summation of Piet’s beers - high quality, interesting stuff. Always the consummate and outspoken beer critic, it’s quite common for him to utter these words after tasting something most consider quite good: "It’s too perfect." Why, whatever do you mean, Piet? Here’s what he means. The science is there, the art is not. The taste can be good; very good, in fact. Balanced, smooth, dare I say quaffable. But not unique; common. So with Het Alternatief, we bring you some genuine, artisinal creations from someone who really cares about brewing the traditional way, but with the yield of original results. Just like their brewer, these beers defy category.
