but we wanted to create an authentic product for you that isn’t found elsewhere.
Exposing Peerless Bourbon to two separate casks allows for two full barrel extractions. The result? Supercharged notes give this whiskey supreme complexity and mouthfeel. Our dedicated tasting team strategically selects barrels with prominent grain, fruit, and herbaceous notes that are complemented well by the extra barrel character. The nose leads off with aromas of salt water taffy with hints of sweet florals and pears. Undertones of toasted coconut and plums join. After crafting the very first bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, we've learned that to have the best beer, you start with the best possible ingredients. Barrels are such an important ingredient and we continue to use only the best our friends on the bourbon trail have to offer. 2024 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout is aged in a mix of freshly emptied bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, Four Roses and Wild Turkey distilleries. Barrel-aged for an average of 12 months, Bourbon County Original Stout boasts deeply developed flavors of fudge, vanilla and caramelized sugar with a rich, decadent mouthfeel.

It’s been six years since we released one of the most celebrated Bourbon County Brand Stout variants. Today, we're excited to warmly welcome the return of this iconic member of the Bourbon County Brand Stout family.
Vanilla, as an ingredient, has made an appearance in Bourbon County lineups over the years, but the 2024 Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Rye Stout is a new take on our 2014 Vanilla Rye release. This year’s release showcases rye and the complexity it delivers by starting with a rye imperial stout and aging it in freshly emptied rye whiskey barrels. After aging in barrels for a full year, the stout is then finished with incredibly aromatic madagascar vanilla beans. Bourbon County Vanilla Rye Stout has the beloved attributes of the vanilla variants before it–with a new characteristically rich spice character from aging in the rye whiskey barrels.

Drawing inspiration from Bardstown’s modern and creative spirit in finished whiskeys, this imperial stout takes the same journey as their Origin Series Rye. We began by aging our imperial stout in Bardstown’s freshly emptied straight rye whiskey barrels. From there, we transferred the beer to “hybrid” oak and cherry wood barrels that finished their rye whiskey. BLACKENED™ is a marriage of the finest bourbons & ryes, hand selected by Dave himself. Each of the whiskeys offer unique flavor that play a key role in the final spirit. Predominantly bourbon, the sweetness of BLACKENED™ is paired perfectly with the savory
spice offered by the rye.

THE FINISH:  Dave was renown for his whiskey finishes—an aspect he called “flavoring for adults”. By resting the whiskey in the barrel of another spirit during the maturation phase, the whiskey picks up some of the unique, residual flavors left behind in the barrel. For BLACKENED™, Dave chose to finish the whiskey in black brandy casks. The result is an added apricot note that plays perfectly alongside the honey and caramel tones of the pre-finished spirit.

THE AWAKENING
After the whiskeys have been combined in the black brandy casks for finishing, they’re jolted back to life by the unmistakable, earth-shattering music of Metallica. Using our proprietary sonic-enhancement system BLACK NOISE™, the whiskey is pummeled by sound, causing it to seep deeper into the barrel, where it picks up additional wood flavor characteristics.
