Penfold's Max

Penfolds Max’s Wines
This line from Penfolds pays homage to Max Schubert, Australia’s most famous Winemaker and the creator of Penfolds Grange. As you know we have long been fans of the Penfolds Wines at The Wine and Cheese Place and are thrilled to offer the Max’s Collection at unbeatable prices:

2015 Penfolds Max’s Shiraz....$18.99
Plenty of spice and walnut shell character with a hint of meat at the close. Medium body, soft and easy tannins and a delicious fruity finish. Real shiraz character with balance.
Rated 91/100 James Suckling

2016 Penfolds Max’s Shiraz/Cabernet....$18.99
Nice, bright and straightforward raspberries, red plums, mulberries and some blackberries. The palate has smooth, round and fleshy fruit, as well as good length. The tannins are well-managed here.
Rated 90/100 James Suckling

Youthfully tight but characterful, with savoury tannic grip, black olive, eucalyptus and juicy blackberry fruit.  Drinking Window 2019 - 2025
Rated 92/100 Decanter

2017 Penfolds Max’s Cabernet Sauvignon....$18.99
Classic cabernet sauvignon lift clearly identifies the varietal from the first waft. Sitting at the riper end of the spectrum, no evidence of tomato leaf, or capsicum, with only a suggestion of spearmint. Dark berries dominate, with classic blackberry liqueur stamping authority from the outset.Lovely oak derived exotic spices create a sense of anticipation. The aromatic enticement is rewarded from the first sip. Ripe raspberry, bramble black currant and blood plum flesh out the fruit spectrum. Oak derived cassia bark and dark licorice notes temper the gorgeous fruits. Taught, lingering tannins create texture and definition.  -- Winemakers Notes
