Crown Point Winery Happy Canyon Santa Barbara

2014 Crown Point Estate Selection Red...$119.99
A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec and 11% Merlot, the 2014 Proprietary Estate Blend displays a deep garnet-purple color and nose of blueberry pie, crème de cassis, baked berries and spice box, plus touches of mocha, violets, black soil and charcoal. The very full-bodied palate reveals a behemoth of a Bordeaux blend, offering concentrated blue and black fruit notes and a very spicy undercurrent, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with great persistence.
Rated 96/100 The Wine Enthusiast
The 2014 Estate Selection incorporates smaller amounts of Malbec and Merlot and was also aged just over two years in new French oak. Its similarly inky colored, yet has a touch more freshness and purity in its leafy herbs, chocolaty dark fruits, graphite and mineral-laced aromas and flavors. Concentrated, structured and lengthy, with plenty of ripe tannin, it's terrific today, in a youthful sort of way, but will be better with short term cellaring and keep for two decades.
