Funkwerks coming to The Wine and Cheese Place

We received confirmation that
Funkwerks will be available for sale at
The Wine and Cheese Place!
Scheduled to arrive at the end of November!

Funkwerks first opened its doors in 2010 by owners Gordon Schuck and Brad Lincoln.

But first, rewind to 2007: Gordon’s brewing skills and recipe ingenuity landed him with a gold medal-winning Saison (note foreshadowing here) at the National Homebrew Competition. Meanwhile, Brad’s passion for craft beer originated from his need for a good beer after a long day of crunching numbers as an accountant in Portland, Oregon. The dynamic duo first met during the winter of 2009 while attending the Siebel Institute of Technology. They were both studying Brewing Science. After being immersed in beer for the better part of five months, the two graduated, with flying colors, and shared a mutual desire to open a brewery. With Brad’s numbers-know-how and Gordon’s super-star palate, our Saison-focused brewery, Funkwerks, was born.

Saisons originated as Belgian farmhouse ales brewed for farm workers during summer months. Known for having a dry profile and complex fruity aromas, the Saisons of today are brewed year-round (hashtag science) and generally have a higher alcohol percentage than their historic counterparts.

Although Funkwerks focuses specifically on Saisons, plenty of room is left to experiment with a range of Belgian styles, barrel-aged small batches, and sour beers.
