Limerick Lane Zinfandel - limited

2013 Limerick Lane Russian River Zinfandel...$35.99
The 2013 Zinfandel from the Russian River is another sexy wine, and one of their largest production cuvées of just under 2,000 cases. It finished at 14.6% alcohol and shows plenty of classic Mediterranean roasted herbs, pepper, spice and full-bodied blackberry and cherry fruit. It’s a classic Zinfandel, very pure, impressively crafted and should drink nicely for up to a decade.

Limerick Lane is now owned by the Bilbro family that has made Marietta Cellars such a successful wine producer. They took this once famous, then down-on-its-luck property, purchased it, and are now producing some incredible wines from the 30 acres of relatively old-vine Zinfandel, Syrah and Rhône grape blends in what is considered a relatively cool area. Starting with the much-maligned 2011 harvest, Jake and Scot Bilbro have already built a loyal following for these intense, but incredibly pure and interesting wines. When I saw them in late August, they had already finished about 75% of the 2015 harvest, the earliest by a long shot in their long family history. In any event, here are some very impressive wines, all pretty realistically priced for what’s in the bottle.

If you haven’t caught on to the magic that is emerging from Limerick Lane, it’s about time.
