2012 Drouhin - the amazing vintage is here!

IN STOCK NOW - MANY ARE LIMITED!

2012 Drouhin:
It's been a long time coming but the 2012's are here. The good news is that quality is amazing, the bad news is the production was tiny and prices have gone up a bit. That being said with very small crops and uneven quality on the horizon for 2013 and 2014, the 2012 is a vintage to buy while you can. While we have all of these wines in stock quantities are quite small.

2012 Drouhin Chorey Les Beaune...$26.99
Drouhin's Chorey-Les-Beaune is really very ripe with notes of black raspberry and plenty of earth nuances that give way to a supple and round palate. An attractive, energetic, wine for early drinking.

2012 Drouhin Cotes de Nuits Villages...$28.99A delicious red Burgundy, with harmonious flavours. Bright ruby color. On the nose, intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice and mild spices, evolving towards notes of undergrowth and mushroom

2012 Drouhin Cotes de Beaune Villages...$26.99
This wine is both simple and elegant. A nice purple color. Delicate red fruit aromas on the nose. This is a great example of what the Pinot Noir grape can produce on the Burgundian terroir.

2012 Drouhin Gevrey Chambertin AC...$57.99

Tasting note: A ripe and beautifully layered nose speaks of black cherry, humus, underbrush and plenty of Gevrey-style earth. There is good precision and fine volume to the mineral-inflected, suave and punchy medium weight flavors that exhibit fine balance on the impressively long finish. There is a sense of harmony here and overall this is a relatively refined Gevrey villages.
Rated 89-91/100 Burghound
2012 Drouhin Pommard AC...$57.99
An intense, bright, red color; a powerful nose, with notes of black cherry and spice, evolving towards aromas of young leather. On the palate, the tannins give a certain impression of firmness, somewhat softened by a nice, harmonious texture. Persistent flavors in the aftertaste."

2012 Drouhin Beaune Greves 1er Cru...$89.99
One of the more distinctive wines in the range, the 2012 Beaune Grèves is showing beautifully. Dark red berries, graphite and smoke are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. This is an especially dark, brooding Grèves. The focus and delineation here are compelling.
Rated 89-92/100 Burghound

2012 Drouhin Vosne Romanee AC...$89.99
Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin
"Supreme elegance! Beautiful colour, with intense and bright reflections. The diversity of the aromas is striking: wild cherry, nutmeg, camphor wood, fine leather...Later on, the wine takes on a subtle aroma of truffle, producing the most varied palette. With its perfect balance between tannin and acidity, the wine has a fleshy, sturdy body. Powerful and long aftertaste. A wealth of harmonious sensations characterizes this great Burgundy".

2012 Drouhin Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru...$89.99
Bright red cherries, rose petals and sweet spices flow across the palate in the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny. Bright, layered and succulent to the core, the 2012 is full of Chambolle raciness. Insistent veins of underlying salinity give the wine much of its energy and potential for the future. What a beautiful wine this is. Drouhin's Chambolle 1er Cru is a blend of fruit from six sites; Hautes Doits, Sentiers, Combottes, Groseilles, Borniques and Plantes.

2012 Drouhin Beaune Clos de Mouche Rouge 1er Cru...$119.99
The 2012 Beaune Clos des Mouches is rich, deep and explosive in the glass. Smoke, dark cherries, incense, tobacco and licorice are some of the many notes that resonate off the palate in the 2012. I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle before its tenth birthday, and that may ultimately prove to be optimistic. In 2012, yields were a minuscule 6-8 hectoliters per hectare.

Very rare wine from Drouhin

2012 Drouhin Clos de La Roche Grand Cru...$269.99
Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin
"A sumptuous wine ! The colour is a beautiful deep ruby. The nose is complex and brings to mind black cherries, with subtle notes of musk and cigar. The tannins seem coated by the velvety texture of the wine. The length of the aftertaste is exceptional: note of spices and candied fruit linger forever in the mouth. This wine gives a marvelous sensation of harmony and plenitude".

2012 Drouhin Echezeaux Grand Cru...$324.99
The 2012 Echézeaux is flat-out stunning. A deep, resonant wine, the Echézeaux covers every inch of the palate with striking depth and nuance. Cinnamon, cloves, menthol, smoke and plums all flesh out on the rich, voluptuous finish. Everything about the 2012 is huge; the fruit, tannin and structure, yet the wine's balance is absolutely impeccable. What a pleasure it is to taste this magnificent Burgundy from the Drouhin family.
Rated 93-95/100 Antonio Galloni,  Vinous Media

2012 Drouhin Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru...$589.99
The 2012 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru was picked on September 24 and includes 15% whole cluster fruit. Bright in color, it has a lively bouquet, laden with bright red cherries, blueberry and wild strawberry, plus a hint of sea spray emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, offering a smooth silky texture that is deceptive, since the finish suggests much better backbone and density than the Clos-de-Beze. Excellent.

2012 Drouhin Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru...$629.99
Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin
"In its youth, the wine displays aromas of great finesse, reminiscent of cherry and dark chocolate or cocoa bean, which is a delicate and sought after characteristic of this wine. As the wine matures, these aromas evolve towards other refined nuances evoking undergrowth, truffle, fine leather and sometimes light notes of cigar or cedar wood. The result is of great elegance and breed. The tannins are refined and the silk and velvet of the body are a perfect match. Very long aftertaste in which some of the aromas previously encountered are again in evidence and create the most elegant sensation".

2012 Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru...$759.99
Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin
"A wine with great breed. Bright, intense ruby-red colour. Complex aromas of Morello cherry ("griotte"), cherrywood, raspberry, and, in some years, a discreet touch of tobacco. As the wine ages, there are notes of truffle and musk. On the palate, a good balance between structure and texture. A remarkably long aftertaste".
