Great 2007 red...

2007 Col des Vents Corbieres....$13.99

I know it is a bit of a broken record, but 2007 was a great vintage for Rhone and Southern France. This Corbieres from Castelmaure is no exception. It is blend of 50% Carignan, 35% Grenache, and 15% Syrah. The wine has good balance and a great pepper and spice profile that makes you think of a Cotes du Rhone. Throw in some great berry flavors like raspberry and blueberry and this wine has it all and for under $15, it is worth buying by the case.

Extra info about the area:

Corbieres did not receive AOC status until 1985. It is part of the Languedoc-Roussilon area and is its larges AOC in production (almost 50% of their production). By law the wines of Corbieres must be blended from at least 2 different grapes. Most of the production in the area is red wine.
